Official 2013 Grand Am season Discussion
2013- the last season for Grand Am as we know it. With the ALMS, Grand Am merger things will be different in 2014, starting with the name ?? of the series. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. With Mazda putting their $$ behind diesel engines in the new GX class, the sight, sound and smell of an rx8 will be rare this year:sadwavey:
Although Racers Edge have said they hope to run the #78 (Telcel, Under Armor) rx8 in every race this year, that remains to be seen. One thing I'm sure about is Volkswagen/Audi will be watching the success (or failure) of the Mazda Diesel very closely, for right now they have the corner on that market. Your thoughts?? . |
Grand-Am Rolex 24 at Daytona preview - Autoweek
In GT, there were also Daytona-only entries, with perhaps half of the test field in for the long haul. Hurting GT car counts this year is the departure of the Mazda RX-8 rotary; though still eligible, Mazda doesn't sell the car any more and won't support it to the same degree. This caused the departure of some Mazda teams, such as Dempsey Racing, led by actor Patrick Dempsey, and led indirectly to the move by Team Sahlen from GT to a two-car DP effort with Riley-BMWs. Mazda's departure from GT led to the all-new, third Grand- Am class for 2013: GX. It's oversimplifying to say that the class was developed to offer Mazda a place to race, but the company will campaign the all-new Mazda 6 powered by a turbodiesel engine. |
Live Timing is up for Daytona 1st practice.

^ thanks :)

Grand Am just won't be the same without the iconic #70...
They should have retired the number with the RX8, not use the same one on the crap Mazda6.. |

I seen the Speedsource 6 at the auto show last night with WCS. Its not as bad as I thought from the pictures but it sure does not scream race car in my eyes
|
^ could it be the four doors? :lol2:
|
Nope because I would be ok seeing a evo or sti on the track. Its just really long and possibly the diesel
|
Ok :) haha

It's on their FB page. |
the 24 hour race, will the grand-am website stream all the race? speed is only covering from 3-11pm :( please let me know or links if possible!
I cant make it to the race this year :( its been 5 years strong.. thanks |
I believe Speed will be streaming the hours that they are not broadcasting. Just like last year.
Speed will broadcast the hours before the end of the race too. |
hmm ok, From what i saw its broadcasted from 3pm-11pm, then back on at 9am-5pm for Speed on the TV
I didnt see a time that they would stream it for different hours. but that would be awesome! thanks! il check back with website |
Pardon the ignorance, but why is there so much hype on the overall winner? I don't understand why they put more emphasis on that title. I would think both classes should get the same credit.
|
I just got home from work. Now I have to skip through commecials to try to catch up the 2 hrs I'm behind in the race.
|
Nothing much to catch on as all three Grand Am GX Mazda6's are down for repairs.
Edit: Insider news. All fuel injection woes. This goes back to what I heard on the live stream when the #70 pulled into the garage. "High pressure pump." |
Yep, must be topping off that Skyactive fluid!!
|
#70 had physical damage when it pulled into the garage. Fluid was leaking everywhere.

#00 Visit Florida will be back out on the track. Apparently #70 and #25 "won't be out running on all cylinders."
Well... That's interesting. |
Put a fork in em. :(
