Mazda Motorsports will unveil an all-new competition race car which will make its motorsports debut in January at the 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona, the premier motorsports endurance race in the United States. The vehicle will be equipped with a turbocharged SKYACTIV-D 2.2L, making it the first diesel-powered competitor in the 51-year history of the 24-hour race. Upon build-completion, the diesel racing engine remained 63 percent OEM stock. Mazda will be seeking its 24th motorsports class win. More information on Mazda's Los Angeles Auto Show vehicle debuts as well as updates on its global business plans will be announced during a press conference on Thursday, November 29. The presentation will begin at 9:30 AM PST and will be held at the Mazda display booth located in the Los Angeles Convention Center's South Hall. I think there is a live feed out there somewhere. |

Speedsource running 2 of them. And the official Mazda artist rendition is pretty damn awesome. Only way a Mazda6 looks better would be if they'd used the wagon. ;) And if Speedsource markets the tuning on that diesel I'm definitely going to get myself a diesel 6 whenever my PoC Sonata commuter bites it. Be better getting a diesel 6 wagon with 400hp/450bhp but beggers/choosers. |

Glad to see Lotus Evora and Porsche Caymen entries as well. Don't want a default win. But with Speedsource essentially fielding/testing 3 cars they should have a huge edge. Less than a month to go... |

GrandAm > Schedule/Results > results There was one at Daytona, that was said to be running the whole season. Maybe they had sponsor problems. |

sponsor problems , thats weird ... just last year they had a least 5 or more running and before that , them and porsche out number everyone on the field .

Sponsor problems was a guess for the remaining RX8 not running a COTA.
This is the last year the RX8 is legal to run. Mazda pulled all money used to sponsor teams and directed it to the diesel Mazda 6 in GX. |

No RX8 , I guess thats what will have to root for . I heard they moved from GT class to DP . Was mention on and off last year . Patrick Dempsey driving ?
