Yep...Matt Connelly Motorsports again. AND...Nick Ham was in the car again at the time of this accident. Kinda makes you wonder if the Connelly team has something against ol' Nick. Wonder if Sylvain went over after the accident and "had a discussion" with the MCM guys...

Thanks to you guys, I won't miss the races this year.

AirlockRX 04-26-2008 09:17 PM

Okay, so the race is tomorrow and I checked the broadcast schedule and it's not airing until next Sunday. :banghead:
Hope somebody reminds me...

Good luck to all the Mazda Teams

The standings are up on the Grand Am website.

Looks like Speedsource had another 5th place.

The RX-8 that placed 5th was not a Speedsource car, it was the Hypersport car, the one that Patrick Dempsey sometimes drives. Did anyone catch the graphics on the side of it? It was the movie poster of that new movie he's in! Nothing like having your face plastered on the side of your racecar. He didn't even drive this week..."PR commitments"...whatever that means. Still, it was their best showing of the year, so grats to that team. Speedsource #69 placed 8th (Assentato/Segal) and the 70 car was 11th (Ham/Tremblay). :icon_no2:

Not sure what the heck happened. With about 18 laps or so left, they were running up front in the top 5. I'm guessing there were some mishaps in the pits and their strategy didn't work out well. Right now, the Pontiacs are owning just about everyone, including the Porsches. I heard one of the teams comment that the Pirellis this year were "built for the Pontiacs", so perhaps their engineering benefits that chassis somehow? They seem to be smoking EVERYONE.

Actually, it aired BOTH days...my DVR recorded it twice. Interestingly, the commentators remarked that they would investigate what happened to the #70 car and provide the information at the next race...let's hope they follow through on it. I've been checking the grand-am.com website for any news as to why they dropped so far near the end of the race, but nothing yet.

secret8gent 05-07-2008 11:35 PM

ugh, i missed all the reruns too~ FAIL.

now i'll never see the race...

oh well, looking forward to leguna seca on the 17th

It was weird seeing 69 running in 3rd and 70 car running in 4th , then all of sudden they are back in the pack during the last 15laps or so. BUt it was good to see Hypersport placing 5th. Also i notice they have a white color car now instead of the purple. , i guess who ever sponsered (Sobe?) them before dropped.

mikeyfuzz 05-17-2008 08:49 PM

Any news? How did the #70 do?

Groundrush 05-17-2008 09:05 PM

Mikeyfuzz: (spoiler alert if you want to watch the race!) http://208.112.96.124/rolex/schedule/results.cfm?eid=10

Looks like the #69 had some issues...let's hope not a serious accident. Also, check out which team finished right behind Speedsource. :squint: Oh, and Banner Racing needs to die in a fire. If I have to look at Kelly Collins' goofy glasses and Paul Edwards pointy head one more time in post-race interviews I'm going to go puke. Stoopid Pontiac...championship leading bastages.

By the way, for those of you interested, the race is being televised (not live) Sunday the 18th at Noon on Speed Channel. Set your DVRs!

Senna 05-18-2008 12:13 AM

What a shitty day...well sort of. I was at the race. Sylvain had the lead in the final lap and gave it away apparently. Not sure what happened but it appeared from my position at the start-finish line with a lap to go that he had at least 3 car lengths on the 07 car.
I asked one of crew members after the race "what happened?" and got a shoulder shrug "I dunno."
In all it was a lot of fun. Great to see two more 8 GT cars even if an actor is driving one of the :) and of course always fun to see the SS cars. Took some video too. When two 8's are running side by side down the straight it's quite the ear drum buster!!
Took a bunch of photos that I'll post a link to when I get home. Hope to watch the Atlantics tomorrow if the family cooperates.

I was watching from the site yesterday. Yes I remembered...
Not happy with the final lap result- hope tha replay shows what really happened on the corkscrew.

lesper4 05-18-2008 11:23 AM

not live!? crap i will try my best not to read the posts above. i am enjoying the race on speed right now.

AirlockRX 05-18-2008 01:31 PM

Still fun to watch even when I know the outcome.
I am amazed with the careless pushes and bumps in the corners.
The Speedsource team should have their best chance next week @ Lime Rock (GT Only).

alfy28 05-18-2008 01:46 PM

/CRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYy tremblay.

btw was awesome seeing the Bmw Riley and Ponti riley (goose) battle it out on the last 15mins.

lesper4 05-18-2008 01:47 PM

damn that was so close, i think trambley was just pushing it too hard at the last lap with his fastest lap as well. it shoudl of been like DP just clean and smooth.

yah, he must of been nervous. not some thing he would normally do. oh well the place he placed is nice also

mikeyfuzz 05-18-2008 03:54 PM

I still think it was a pretty good weekend for the Speedsource. Pole position and 3rd place finish,(should have won) :banghead: :icon_no2: but its still a good race. I can't wait til next week, GT only race :ylsuper:
