No More Hummer H1

Just announced -- this is the last model year for the H1.

It was inevitable IMO.

DreRX8 05-12-2006 06:38 PM

My foolish neighbors have a black H1...thumbs down.

Good. Now how the Hell can we add all of GM's POS cars to that list

No More Oldsmobiles 05-12-2006 08:22 PM

The H1 is the only vehicle that screams "testosterone overdose" and "testosterone deficiency" at the same time!

Paul_in_DC 05-12-2006 09:17 PM

The thing looks like a tool shed with wheels.

Blue87Sport 05-12-2006 10:37 PM

In other news, GM announced that it's CAFE figures for 2007 are up 8 mpg.

jaguargod 05-12-2006 11:50 PM

It just proves that some people will buy anything as long as they think it says "I have more money than you".

Ummm...source?

If it's true, I assume they're still building them for the military. The H1 is the only Hummer that is (was?) actually capable off-road. The other two are just GM SUV's with overweight bodies and weak tie rods.

edit: http://www.autoblog.com/2006/05/13/h...ty-next-month/

The military version is still being made, the civilian version isn't. Which is just as well, seeing as how most Hummer owners mainly want image anyhow.

Jamg 05-15-2006 03:34 AM

I just want one for off-road...

snizzle 05-15-2006 10:41 AM

But the H1 was the only true off road vehicle of the bunch. You can't beat its' off road capability. I could see that there wouldn't be a huge demand for that massive truck though.

When I lived outside of Boston a guy in my neighbor hood had an H1. I never got to see him try to drive in the snow, but I bet he had no problem and a LOT of fun.

No, it's not. The H2, H3, G wagon....well, lets make it short. Most large SUV's scream that unless I see a hitch, or some dirt on the tires.

BigOLundh 05-15-2006 01:42 PM

Seeing how they only sold about 12,000 units in 12 years on the non-military side... i'm suprised it didn't get canned sooner.

The Few......

Sales so far this year - 100.

I think that says it all, it has become a symbol of excess, and it's demise is also symbolic.

Ironically, its new diesel option actually gets better mileage than both the H2 and H3!
