Um, no.

The new Viper is such a nice looking car, but it just can't compare to the original.

Also, is it just me or do those taillights look almost identical to the ones off of the original Viper.

That car is sick but the orig. GTS Viper is so much better.

Overport 09-11-2004 07:10 PM

Those pics are sweet. so when is it going to come out?

i for one like it even more than the original gts coupe.

that must have been a fun day.

and those cars are lamorghini diablo (black one) and lotus esprit.

RXE16T 09-11-2004 08:27 PM

Anyone else think that the side on profile of the Viper resembles a heavily pumped out FD 7?

jonnyb 09-11-2004 08:59 PM

now that you mention it, it does look that way from the side.

shelleys_man_06 09-11-2004 10:23 PM

I noticed that too. At first, I thought it was a re-skinned 1st gen. Viper. I guess all you can do is copy an already-good roof design. ;)

WilliamT 09-12-2004 07:03 PM

Compared to the original Viper GTS, that looks like a cheap kit car.

Rotarian_SC 09-12-2004 07:32 PM

I like it as well, except for the black plastic cladding around the exhaust, that should just be metal. A coworker has a red viper, so I get to see it fairly often.

wakeech 09-12-2004 08:40 PM

yeah i was gonna say that judging by the profile they made the Viper look like a Viper again. that's a good thing, it's just too bad they can't make it fast enough for the price.

This is all I've got

Rear brakes

..I've got a question for all of you gee-wee mechanical/performance savvy RX8-Club members (could I've made that any longer...?)
Look at the attachment...and tell me what you see there. Then please tell me WHY?

shelleys_man_06 09-12-2004 08:57 PM

The Viper uses Brembo rotors?

From what I can gather...it has 2 sets of calipers. Why? that's my question. The pads on the small one are Brembos, the other one: who knows.

MikeW 09-12-2004 09:10 PM

Main brakes and parking brakes
The new viper has a trunk, whereas the old one was a liftglass hatchback.

Twinturbo2800 09-12-2004 09:13 PM

i still like the other body style but thier still badass

JeRKy 8 Owner 09-12-2004 09:49 PM

Thatsa disgusting color for a viper. Someonein my building used to have a gray one w/purple body work on the doors. Itwas really sweet looking. This isjust ugly though

shelleys_man_06 09-12-2004 09:50 PM

What about the mechanical specs for this car?

m477 09-13-2004 10:19 PM

I liked the original Viper better... but I think it would look a lot better with a new paint job - it isn't 1964 any more.

Audioslave8 09-13-2004 10:42 PM

The other caliper is for the parking (emergency) break, some high end luxury cars also have this.... (correct me if im wrong)

I don't think the specs are going to be too different from the Vert:
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/viper_srt.asp

All in all, a very hard to improve package without going -even more- radical.

Would make sense: after running the thing like a maniac, the last thing you want is having those red hot rotors against recalcitrant pads cooling down. Oh, well..I don't know.
