I checked out a few S1s when I was shopping for an 8, but the S2 was just in the best condition. And that S2 was the only one in the area and in the GT trim, so it ticks all the right boxes. I wouldn't have minded a later S1(06~08). Early S1(04, 05) just has your typical 1st year problems.

I am not too keen on bright red cars, but I have grown used to it.

Maybe I should trade for Steve's GT.

I'll be able to post one of these "new toy" threads soon. I take delivery of my hideous new Bimmer next week.

Stardate 1234... 5... point 6.

Part of the ship... fell off and... nobody likes me.

(Extra points if you get the spoof I’m referencing.)

New Mazda differential with Mazda cone-clutch LSD installed along with diff carrier bushing inserts and larger rear anti-roll bar.

Just need to install the bigger front swaybar and offset UCA bushings and the car will be as prepped for STR as I feel like making it.

Seriously though, won't that void your warranty?

Nice! OVT (Matt) knows his stuff with the SkyG's. Sounds like a really good setup.

LOL - SkyActiv engineering efforts. The RX8 actually had a pretty strong differential, and so far the cute new one Mazda uses in the ND is holding up to abuse. It is the trans that was having issues (had mine replaced at 11,000mi) -- though that is meant to be solved in the newer cars, and my second trans never had an issue, up to 28,000mi when I sold the car.

Offset UCA bushings are in. Went from a max of -2.1° to -3.5° camber on each side of the front.

I'm pretty much done modifying it... for now.
The only immediate change left is the hardware for AA/CP.

And, of course, we're in a short lull in the local race schedule so I won't get to drive it in anger for 3 weeks.

Don't think you'll need 2 grand worth of vinyl to do an ND. It's not terribly different in size from an S2000. My S2000 only needed about 300 sq ft. A 5x60ft roll of 3M Yellow is about $550.

I'd post pictures of my S2000, but every time I try to post (or quote) anything with pictures it gets stuck in mod approval limbo.
