New Ducati clutch
 

Motorcycle guys and gals;
Check out my new clutch on my Ducati. I love dry clutches. They are easy to install and to maintain, plus they feel great. Replaced stock clutch basket, pressure plate, friction plates, spring and clutch cover (vented). Enjoy.

desmo996, it looks great. How much did it cost you for all the parts and did it take long to install? By the way I am new to the motorcycle world, I am just asking out of curiousity. :))

Very Very nice bike. I had a 748 a while back and I had put the vented clutch on before I sold it. I gotta ask though, how does the new clutch sound compared to the stocker? Everytime someone pulled up to me they would think the bike is falling apart because of the chattery clutch.

Sweet looking clutch. I hope it works as well as it looks! I've always love Ducs but they're sit a little too high to my short-statured liking. At least the one's that I would want.

A friend of mine binned his 900 Monster Chromo into a guardrail two miles from Deals Gap last year. I was just the second bike behind him and it was all I could do to keep from following him into the guardrail! Sheew! Luckily he just tumble a little and was a little bruised, but otherwise unhurt. The bike was wedged WELL under the guardrail and it took four of us to "unwedge" it. When I first saw it, I thought "Oh shit, there's no way he's riding again today!" But we got it out and just had to wire up the throttle housing to hold it in place and it fired right up! I wonder if a Jap bike would've faired so well with the guardrail?

We rode another 300 miles that day, including the Dragon, then another 500 miles the next day back home. Three 500+ mile days in a row and less than 100 miles of slab time - it was a blast!

Still kinda loud, but the tolerances between the basket and the clutch plates teeth are much closer. I suspect with time the chatter will get louder. Right now the clutch sounds great. I do have to explain that the sound comes from the dry clutch. People like to see the pressure plate spinning in the Clutch housing. A lot of people don't know how a clutch works and I find myself explaining the mechanics of a clutch. At least I have a visual aid. ;)

I've been meaning to go to Deals Gap. It seems everytime my friends go, I get tied up at home. From what I heard it is a blast. My inlaws even have a cabin over there. Are there a lot of cops?

This is the painful part. Keep in mind is a Ducati:

Clutch basket and plates = $500
Clutch high wall pesssure plate and springs = $220
Clutch Cover = $200

It took about me about 2 hours to install, just because I'm meticulous. A competent mechanic would take about 1 hour, tops

Cost of doing the job yourself and taking pride in it = Priceless :)

Looks good! (hard to make that bike look bad).

I do it if it made the chatter go away.
