New Car?
I'm always interested when I read on this site and others that people are buying new cars off a lot with xxmiles on them...
To me if the car has say 50miles on it then its not a new car. Its probably had numerous test drives and from experience will have been redlined quite a few times often from cold and before the break in period has expired. What's the general frame of mind here since I'm not from round these parts... If I was buying a new car in England I would expect to have delivery miles only on it... if not I'd expect to pay second hand car price... |
you the consumer get to choose whatever car you want.....some dealers will call a car with 200-300 miles new....others will call them demos....if you dont like the idea of a couple mile on a new car just go somewhere else....you get to choose.....

I think it's considered new if it's not registered yet. I've seen a BMW with over 2000 miles and it is considered new when it is actually registered.
I've also bought a car and transfer my name off the car within 100 miles on the odo and it's considered used since then. |
I think they can pull it off because of the warranty. Say the car has 400 miles on it when you buy it. If it is a 60K mile powertrain it will actually last until 60,400 on the odo. At least thats what my local dealer tells me.

It can also be several years old and still considered new, a la Enzo.
