MX-5 Club edition

I was at the dealer getting an oil change and they had 4 of these on the lot and in the show room. 2 are red and 2 are white. I have to say they are really cool looking. I almost traded my Eight in on one. I just cannot go without the back seats and well the payment would suck.

Yeah, I'm still strongly tempted by a white one :)

They "Extended" the scheme from the prior year's special edition:

Added that front lip the side graphic, and some suspension upgrades (shocks, springs, rear diff, strut brace)

I almost want to get a used Mazda 3 and buy the red one to put in my garage. Yeah trying running that one by your wife!

RIWWP 05-09-2013 01:06 PM

If I hadn't have my 99 Miata decide to throw a bunch more problems at me last October (which resulted in buying my MSM), I probably would have bought a new Club Sport with my bonus.

paimon.soror 05-09-2013 01:23 PM

had a red one at the NYIAS. I am really warming up to these little guys

hoss -05 05-09-2013 02:24 PM

If they had forced induction i would be game but they are a bit low on power for my taste.

RIWWP 05-09-2013 02:28 PM

How about +$5,095 for 250whp complete bolton, includes every last piece you need, including the tune?

Yes, you can.

revrev13b 05-09-2013 10:29 PM

Checked it out that the LA Auto show and recently at a dealer. Very nice. My mate is currently getting his money right to purchase one.

Nice mx-5's. Already have 2 grown up kids and i used to like the Miata's. Anyway, the only 2-seater i owned is a Triumph Spitfire 1500 when i was in the Army, then sold it when i got out. I wish i kept it, but i needed the money.

I would love it. What kit are you talking about? Also its 5,095= future warranty cost. I am actually looking at trading in my Daily for something like a mx5 but its a bit low on HP.

Flyin' Miata : NC MX-5 : Superchargers : FM MP62 supercharger system

Includes a 3 year 50,000 mile warranty, since you bring it up :)

This supercharger was original co-developed by Cosworth and Mazda for the MX-5, probably as some sort of Mazdaspeed variant. Mazda decided to not offer it after it was completely developed. Flyin Miata managed to become the vendor for it, although Cosworth largely just passed off everything to them to deal with. Tuning is handled through ECU reflash, and as you can expect from co-developing with Mazda, it looks OEM, fits like OEM, drives like OEM.

So far, 2006+ turbo options haven't really gotten off the ground, mostly because they can't compete with how flawless this kit is.

EightCostsMoney 05-10-2013 06:40 AM

What is the HP of the new MX-5?

RXeligion 05-10-2013 06:57 AM

^ RIWWP, you're making it pretty difficult to keep this RX8;)

The NEW one? As in the ND series that is still several years away? Probably around 150hp at the crank. Mazda has stated that they are trying to return the car to the weight of the NA series, and it's likely that the engine will be downsized as well. They probably won't be able to get all the way back to 2100lbs, but probably close. There may be a slight power-to-weight bump over current power-to-weight, but likely not.

If you mean new model year, the NC is all the same reported, 167 at the crank. However, there are theories that the 2009+ or 2011+ are higher power, since there have been improvements that should easily net a few ponies.

EightCostsMoney 05-10-2013 08:00 AM

Cool! I still can't get away from the backseats of my Eight right now or I would get a MX-5 right now. I am still enjoying the RX-8 and it is paid off. I will just keep driving it till it blows up. I hate going to the dealer sometimes. I get the urge to buy a new car every time I do.

It still does not hurt to day dream though.

Chrishoky 05-10-2013 10:08 AM

I still prefer the look of the early 90s miata with the flip up headlights, call me nostalgic. Also, with them being so cheap now, it would be more worthwhile to build it up to my taste.

Sway 05-10-2013 01:24 PM

I actually spotted 2 in my neighborhood after seeing this thread. Ones a convertible and the other is a hard top. I can't get away from my back seats tho...esp with having a kiddo. Maybe when I'm 50 and going thru my midlife crisis:rofl:

RIWWP 05-10-2013 01:26 PM

They are all convertibles :)

Hard top ones are either removable hard tops, or power retractable hard tops.

For some reason, it's part of why many people hate the Miata.

Ok anal annie...you know what I ment! lol <3

EightCostsMoney 05-10-2013 01:55 PM

I would have to have the hardtop version. I saw a 2010 MX-5 at carmax with low miles at around $16,000. If I ever get one it would be used.

Starvsnr 05-10-2013 03:08 PM

My little brother is planning on getting a NB here soon, we are checking one out tomorrow. He is going to get one of these fastback hardtop, makes me want to get one!

I have seen a few of these before and they look awesome, especially with a wide body. The car above does not do it justice. Its hardly lowered and has no side skirting. If anyone wants a better example just google the top, its hotness.

A better example

EightCostsMoney 05-13-2013 07:18 AM

I saw a S2000 yesterday with a similar top. It looked pretty cool. Only the rest of the car looked really tacky. Sometimes a bad set of wheels ruin the car.

Starvsnr 05-13-2013 08:40 PM

He just got this Saturday, its a fun little car.
