did you actually dyno those numbers, or are you adding up what each company says their part makes?

Cause if you just added up what they said the parts make, my rx-8 would have 800 hp by now.

NISMO dynos each part seperately to find the increas in HP and TQ... We havent dyno'd the car yet but we plan to very soon...

BlueEyes 01-02-2005 01:48 PM

I think, whats the point?

Icemastr 01-02-2005 02:15 PM

I do not see the SE-R getting a 35HP gain out of an intake, header and catback. It is a pretty well tuned engine from the factory and the stock intake and exhaust is not all that restrctive. Those gains would be good gains for a turbocharged 4 cylinder even. You need to dyno it then install the parts and dyno it to really see what the gain is.

XDEEDUBBX 01-02-2005 02:22 PM

yea no manufacturer dyno counting! Every car is different...Me personally, I think it was worth it..

RXE16T 01-02-2005 06:08 PM

Shame it's still a fugly car without any class despite how much power it may pump out.

dwill9578 01-02-2005 06:23 PM

did ya pay that amount for the car or adding the price of mods to msrp? Either way worth it.

army_rx8 01-02-2005 06:27 PM

the real question is .. was it worth it to you..if the answer is yes..than who cares it was a good investment:D. but it seems liek you got a good deal on nismo parts last tiem i checked (granted a while ago_) they weren't cheap...plus installation. not to bad IMO

I think the Sentra belongs to one of his 'crew'. ;)

czr 01-03-2005 04:43 PM

lol.. what a bunch of bitter haters we are.

If it was a "real" gain of 35 hp which might be possible that is a good deal considering only 3 would have impact on it- header, intake, exhaust. The old RXs exhaust alone could have gained 20hp and same is true with some cars now, so it might be right. It is the V spec not the lower powered one

army_rx8 01-03-2005 04:46 PM

hmm well yes those numbers are possible....hey wait a sec. we aren't talking about a series 6 or 7 rx-7 are we? hmm since not i'm not to sure:p

SimplexEffect 01-07-2005 11:19 AM

go ahead and try and call me a spoiled brat... i dont care...

Looks like you overpaid and got the ugly version of the spec-v. Got a 2002 that I bought new for 17k and it's got a much much much better looking front end. The earlier front ends really save the car from a bad case of the uglies.

Fun car though, very quick off the line but not much above 5000rpm's. Got PZero's on my wife's and they help a lot, stock tires suck, suck real real bad.

Mugatu 03-10-2005 05:20 PM

yeah, but it's a SENTRA.

Catat0nic 03-10-2005 05:23 PM

A friend of mine got a sentra se-r spec v new with most of the options (no moon roof) for 15,000 after the 2 grand cash back

I had a 2000 Sentra SE (not even an SE-R) and that car was surprisingly quick and nimble for what it was. I absolutely hated the stock tires, but I don't think I've ever met a set of OEM tires I've liked. For the price, the Sentra's a good little car, not sure if the SE-R is worth it, but for the $14k we paid for mine, it was a great deal.

That being said, I really don't understand the point of modding up economy cars. FWD coupled with gobs of power is quite the insipid combination. I'd rather spend my money on a nicer car. To each his own though. If you like the mods, they're worth the money.

Aoshi Shinomori 03-10-2005 05:55 PM

Those numbers you quoted earlier are stock FWHP numbers not WHP. I agree with Icemastr, I don't think those numbers are close yo what you'll actually end up with. I think the dynos are in the low-mid 150s for that car but don't quote me on that. That engine reminds me of the latest celica engine from what I've heard of it. It's just not very responsive to modding(NA anyway)

Discman2 03-10-2005 06:40 PM

You haven't even dynoed yet...

So:

this thread=invalid

lourx8 03-12-2005 03:46 PM

,Whats with all the hating! Who cares if mommy and daddy gave him the car or if it is a Sentra. LOL the thread invalidation was pretty funny though, Discman2 :D

Aoshi Shinomori 03-12-2005 05:07 PM

Yea I think Abbid is right. He hasn't posted in 2 months. I guess I'm ok with that though.

Jdunsh 03-15-2005 08:43 PM

you guys are brutal.

Steiner 03-15-2005 09:11 PM

I used to own an '02 Spec V. It's a fun car but the torque steer was nightmarish off the showroom floor, I can't imagine what another 40whp would feel like.

Ike 03-16-2005 01:59 AM

The old SE-R 2 door Sentra was a very cool car, if I saw one roday for cheap I'd but it in a flash. The new ones... eh I could really care less if I was in the market for a car in that category I couldn't imagine picking the Sentra SE-R over the SRT-4, SVT Focus, MSP (when it was in production), Cobalt SS, RSX, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.
