ML350 vs RX350

My parents are going to buy a new car and it came down to these two cars. Both have approximately the same hp/torque and are basically the same price (40K). They're going to LEASE the car so negating the long-term advantages/disadvantages which car do you think is better? Anyone have any experience with any of the two?

I have the ML350, IMO I think the ML is better. I also was looking at the RX350, but I didn't like the space, it was small. As far as looks go the ML is looking great compaird to the first gen, witch I thought look like a regular SUV. The RX is not bad, I just think it's got a small cabin for an SUV.

check this out it's a MUST

it's a survey from top gear for the most satisfied cars to own from the owners them selfs!

the M class got placed at 155!!! shocking for merc

while the RX300, got in the top 3!!!

so i would say the RX350:)

just look at the ratings, the m class has 1 to 2 stars for everything while the rx had almost full stars

Coworker tells me he'll never buy/lease Mercedes because of the service. He's currently leasing a Mercedes. He says he's been to like 4 different Mercedes dealerships and the service has always really blew. And remember, Mercedes is a luxury brand! He says the car was nice though.

On the other hand I hear nothing but praises for Lexus service. It's supposedly on the expensive side but godly.

My friend has an older ML. They've changed it quite a bit since he's had his but his car has had quite a bit of issues and none of which was that cheap to fix. He had this one issue where when he turned his blinker on and turned right, it would always jump to the left turn blinker when he was done. Bizarre. The car rides nice though.

I've had nothing but GREAT experiences with Mercedes in the past. The new ML's looks are (IMHO) much nicer then the RX350.

From Edmunds
ML 350
Pros Fresh styling inside and out, comfortable for five, extensive array of safety features, surefooted in bad weather, easy-to-use navigation system

Cons V6 is short on low-end torque, no third-row seat option, expensive for its class.

"the new Benz's combination of cutting-edge safety features, commendable on-road performance and plentiful creature comforts keep this pioneering luxury SUV right up there with the best in the class."

RX350:
Pros Well-appointed cabin, luxury sedan ride, practical high-tech features, rock solid reliability history, excellent dealer service.
Cons Plush ride tuning makes for merely acceptable handling, no third-row seat option, pricey option packages.

Get the RX, I have had one and it was great so is the service. The MB dealers here are awful, also MB has done away with the free maintenance it used to offer. Their rates for things are outrageous if your parents have the service done at the dealers.

Edmunds must be on crack. The mercedes engine crushes the 2gr-fe on low end torque. The MB has a dual length intake manifold & swirl flaps. Peak torque is 258 ft-lbs from 2400rpm-5000rpm, and 268hp@6000
The 2gr-fe has a variable resonance intake manifold (The front I3 has a variable connection to the back I3) 270hp@6200, 251ft-lbs@4700

Toyota put the viscous coupling back on the center differential for 2007.

The MB wheels are 7.5" wide and can accomodate 255/60 17, the lexus has 6.5x17 and 7x18 and are stuck with stock sizes.

The Lexus has struts all around, MB has control arm/multilink, but weighs in 500lbs heavier and the mileage is 16/20 (The 7 speed automatic should have done better here) versus 19/24 of the lexus.

The MB is a stripper @ $40K, the Lexus can be had out the door for $40K.

If your parents have to buy the ultimate yuppie class of car, the Rx is the way to go. Mercedes is shit these days.

Yeah, I agree that Mercedes is truly a luxury brand.. But, they once released a crappy car can't remember the model though.
