Mid-engine RWD rotary powered Mazda

RX-X, mid-engine, rwd, twin-rotor producing 280 hp, 2,800 lb weigh, 2 seater, coupe, full loaded price of $35k. Where do I put a deposit?

Why doesn't Mazda produce such a car? There is currently no mid-engine car for under $40k. After you equip a Boxster or Elise, you're looking at $50k-$55k range.

why do you want or expect so much for 35k?

dillsrotary 01-14-2008 06:56 PM

why mid-engine, front engine/rear drive will be alot cheaper to produce

Renesis_8 01-14-2008 07:02 PM

there is a reason why there are no mid engined cars priced below 40k! COST!

The MR2 were mid-engine cars priced in the $20s. If Toyota can produce them, why not Mazda?

Crztrtldck 01-14-2008 07:16 PM

the rx8 is a mid-engine car
FMR (front mid-engine) but its a mid engine car

CnnmnSchnpps 01-14-2008 07:16 PM

If we're talking 2 seater, might as well shoot for 2400 :)

BTW, the 8 is a midship...

Technically, the RX-8 IS mid-engined as the engine is behind the front axel.

What you are thinking of is mid/rear-engine.

But the weight distribution is already 50/50, so what's the point?

For that price it better have more than 280 HP, try 350 HP!

2800 lbs and 280 is enough
