I'd be interested to know which car did the quickest lap times . The Vette was slowing the 7 down in some parts of the track but the 7 couldn't get past due to being out gunned on the straights .

In qualifying Jeff ran a 1:28.139 and Bob ran a 1:28.904

In the race Jeff ran a 1:29.1 and Bob ran a 1:29.4 Cheers for that . In light of that I would say that Bob did a pretty good job holding Jeff out . Although I know it would be really hard for Jeff to make a pass stick he would have put a lot of pressure on Bob to run a flawless race . |

even a 300hp gap can be drastically reduced with a better chassis and drivetrain! the vette barely has a chassis... the divetrain is what it is too.
Props to the RX-7 driver, he is obviously very good. That being said, without knowing the setups of the two cars its very hard to evaluate how big a difference between the drivers is. The Corvette certainly appears to have a significant power advantage on the RX-7. It's ludicrously simple to extract power out of the LSx motors, so stock block guys can make 550 rwhp with cams/headers. |
it's just the truth

nice! i watched that all the way through, now for my attempt on forza.

Torque is a wonderful thing to have too!
I would think that engine is 375-400 hp range? |

This is a full race 2011 SCCA RX-7 that we build engines for. All R&D including dyno work for this car is done here at Mazmart by Rick Engman. The Corvette is making around 600 rwhp. The RX-7 driver is Jeff Dernehl of Roswell Outback Automotive in Roswell GA. He owns the car and fabricates most everything on it. He generally kicks ass and has been breaking track records throughout the US.
Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQkhE6BOwK4 Paul. Simply amazing... I would love this in my track car. Could i ask very nicely... for the specs of the engine? The description on Youtube only says 13B PPort, i'm guessing NA? Based on a Renesis? I can't believe it's not been asked. Are we allowed to know the power now it's a 6 year bump? Do you get many requests to build similar specs? Thanks. |
