What did you think of the MS6 in person? Were you able to sit inside?
|
Yes...and I really liked it, if I could afford it that's the family car I would get for my wife.
It looks basically the same inside but looks higher class, sorry I didn't take pic's inside. I'm actually going to contact Mazda about the Mazdaspeed6's tail. I really like the spoiler in the back. That's the exact tail I want for my 8. |
Ohh, my little sis and brother both said that the Mazdaspeed6 made the Legacy GT (nice car on it's own) look crappy. For the price...they would take the MS6 any day over the Legacy GT.
It has twin exhaust pipes in the back (pretty big) and I'm really impressed that Mazda did such a good job with it. Now...COME ON MAZDA, how about the MS8!!! |
As some know... my only grips about the MS6 is the height of the hood and the black plastic wannabe diffuser on the back bumper. Otherwise it's pretty nice. I'd have preferred Mazda to have built it on the 5 door platform (and a lack of AT options are major JDM mag complaints).
Nicer than the Legacy... I dunno. Need to see both in black in person. The Legacy GT in black looks elegant... goes with a suit and tie. As far as the interior goes... it's the same as the rest of the 2006 Mazda6 line except for the white/black leather seat option. Price... I was just checking it out last night on Mazda USA's site... the 6s with leather costs about the same as the MS6?! Hands down winner... MS6. |

Nice! Thanks for posting pics rx8wannahave!

Ummmmmmm, GT! I'd love to have one of those!
|
No Prob RA-Eight...
I really like the Legacy GT, but for the price I'd take the MS6. Think of it...they both cost the same yet the 6 has better interior space as a family car AND...the subie don't got ZOOM ZOOM. I'm glad that Mazda brought this car out, now Mazda offers me the AWD car I might need one day if I ever moved to the North. But...that's what a FL guy thinks about the north, I see alot of northern 8's have no prob in the snow with the right tires. |
I usually love sporty white cars, but the Mazdaspeed 6 in white isn't doing much for me.

We also got to take it to an empty street somewhere in orlando  |
^cool...you lucky dog, must have been fun! Don't worry...the 8 will not disapoint!
a CROSSFIRE I'm 100% with you. I've been looking for something exactly like that for my Evo RS. If it's not too much trouble can you update this thread, start another thread or PM me after you talk to Mazda. I'm assuming cost will be high because it looks like, judging from the video you took, there is a brake light assembly inside the lip. Oh well. It's really good looking IMHO. If it’s not too expensive and fits, that’s the tail that will be going on my 8. If anything…maybe it can be modified to work with the 8. I think when I take my 8 in for an oil change (soon) I'll ask them about it. I'll take my tape messure with me and hopefully I wont look too weird...lol. |
The spoiler you like looks like the euro spec spoiler for the 8.
|
^Yes, but better...
The Euro spoiler is a "little" more conservative...IF I remember right. |
i drove the mazdaspeed 6 last week, and must say my initial impressions were positive but mixed...definitely has a lot of pickup, inside it looks like the standard 6 but refined (i like the 6's interior), didnt really get to tear up the handling, however on the highway its even worse than the 8 in sixth gear. We openned up the hood, and the thing feels like its made of lead...it is extremely heavy. I would consider this car.
|
^lol...your right, that was a mixed review...lol
I'm guessing the highway comment means it's rpm's are pretty high for highway cruising???? If that's the case, MAZDA what in the world are you doing???? Dang nabbit...a highway cruise (70-80MPH) in low rpm's is the Holy Grail of highway fuel economy. This is not a new concept or secret information... COME ON MAZDA! |

The wheels - Mazda screwed up the wheels on the MS6... :(
|
How come all the cars are american? less the MS6. It would have been dissapointing if that's all that was picture worthy

so was ok this year......not to much to drool over...
the MS6 was neat, but that hood was stupid heavy, and I wish it had a hood scoop for that IC. |

It would have been dissapointing if that's all that was picture worthy Sorry I didn't take a picture of the Solstice, Z06, and Audi S4 (sweeeeet)...everything else was the type of stuff you find on dealership lots. Some old cars, an old viper, and an exotic here or there…but nothing we all have not seen before. Nothing very exciting to be honest... That robot is badass. Blue C3PO If I go to the Miami show (I think my wife has it up to HERE with my car show/car event trips…lol, cause she cant’ come since her baby belly is huge) I’ll do a better job of taking more pictures. |
I was given a test drive in one yesterday. I was NOT blown away at all. The inside of the car is fairly boring, My 8 is nicer. The Handling seemed good for a sedan, again the 8 was better and the power was not what I was expecting, it felt more eager at lower revs and pulled a LITTLE stronger up to about 40 or 50mph other than that I think my 8 felt just as strong and at the higher end the 6 falls off and the 8 just keeps pulling. My estimate for 0-60 would be about 5.8 or 5.9 not much more than the 8, 1/4 and 0-100 about the same. I am not saying the car was crap, it is a very nice sedan, but I was a little dissapointed after all the hype from the saleman. To put it in perspective the 350Z and G35 coupe feel quicker and the 8 is almost as quick with better handling and brakes and a more exciting sounding and higher revving engine.

It has twin exhaust pipes in the back (pretty big) http://www.wam.umd.edu/~greghess/exhausttip.jpg It looks incredibly cheap if you get closer. I'm a fan of the MPS 6 myself, but the whole rear bumper has to go. And why are they still using a psuedo dual exhaust...the car's heavy enough as is with its 100lb hood, giant wheels, and default unremovable option packages. With proper rim selection, replacing the hood, and getting rid of the stupid exhaust components and excessive body kit, you could probably drop a few hundred lbs off the car. Also it should be noted... The car cuts boost paste 4200 rpm completely if it detects less then 91 octane. It opens the waste gate actuator at 4200 rpm...no boost, nada, zip, zero, nothing. You basically lose over 100 whp if you run less then 91 octane. Obviously this is causing alot of problems since around 50-60% of mazdaspeed dealers are filling it with 87... If the car doesn't feel like it has pull past 4200 rpm, its because some idiot put 87 in. |
Actually those are just chrome rings on the bumper. If you look closer, you'll see the actual exhaust tips are extremely tiny. Remember, the 6 is not the 8...don't compare it to the RX8. When you compare the MS6 to most of the sadans out on the road...it's MUCH nicer looking and alot more fun to drive (I have not driven one but being a Mazda owner that's what I expect from them). The interior on the 6 is very nice, not great...but better again than most of the sadan's out there. It's not an 8...it's a 6, and with 274-6 HP it should be a hoot to drive. With that said...the exhaust looks CHEAPPPPPPP!!!!! |
Ya only thing about the hood...the TMIC is in the way. You'll have to convert to a FMIC before you can throw on an Evo style CF hood (and shave 50 lbs off the car).
The TMIC unit is pretty snazzy, car's basically got a front scoop instead of a top mounted one. Its effectiveness at temp is still at question. The speeds of the canadian reviewers vs the hotter ambient aussie owners is quite different...almost a second difference to 60 slower. |
