Mazdaspeed exhaust no cat converter engine light up please help
 

I am new to all of this and am working my way up...i have a 2004 mazdaspeed rx8 and my engine light came up. when i took it to the dealership they inspected the car and found out that it didnt have a cat converter and thus not having an o2 sensor. my car is equipped with a mazdaspeed air intake and mazdaspeed exhaust system. my question is that is it bad for my car not to have a cat converter nor a o2 sensor? if what should i do to get rid of the engine light because thats the only problem my rx8 has. everything else is perfectly fine----just this....please help!!:confused:

No sensor will give you a check-engine light, but you know that already.

No way to get the light off easily.

all the dealership said was that the check engine light came up because it had no cat converter in which the exhaust system did not have an o2sensor at all

Running without a cat will not have any negative affects on your car. As long as the CEL only pops a code for that you will not need to worry. You will not be able to pass a state inspection without a cat though. Take some time to search and all your questions will be answered.

why would you run without o2 sensor?
I feel sorry for most rx8s nowadays, poor cars..
