Mazda Tops Automakers in Gas Mileage
Mazda Tops Automakers in Gas Mileage, Honda Second.
Mazda Tops Automakers in Gas Mileage, Honda Second - ABC News Mazda led all automakers in average gas mileage during the 2013 model year, according to an annual report released Wednesday by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Honda finished second, while the Detroit automakers, which sell more pickup trucks and SUVs, were at the bottom of the list. Here are the numbers, including the mile-per-gallon change from 2012: MAZDA 28.1 Avg. MPG +1.0 Change in MPG Honda 27.4 +0.8 Subaru 26.7 +1.5 Nissan 26.2 +2.1 Volkswagen 25.7 +0.2 Toyota 25.1 -0.5 BMW 24.5 +0.8 Daimler 22.4 +1.3 Ford 22.2 -0.6 GM 22.0 +0.3 Fiat Chrysler 20.9 +0.8 All automakers 24.1 +0.5 Source: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Yeah Mazda!!....;) These results are US Specific and no Rotary Engine...of course. |
Very exciting news.

Mazda is true to their EPA estimate too (if not better). Can't say the same for Furd.
|
Impressive, and that's not even including the new 3 and 6
|
This is awesome news!
|
I get that this is a great thing, my mom's 3 does a few mpg above epa without even trying, but we are the group that significantly lowers the mazda total average, should we feel bad?

It's based on new cars sold. No new RX-8s were sold in 2013.
What this does mean that as Mazda continues to overhaul their lineup with SkyActive stuff, this number is going to keep climbing significantly. And THAT means that if they do end up bringing a rotary back, it's not the end of their CAFE score if it has less than desired mileage numbers. They have plenty of room for flex, since they are already almost hitting the 2025 CAFE score (Which does not equal MPG), 11 years early. |
so this is 2nd year in a row and it looks like with current 2014 MY vehicles they will be on top for a third. the CO2 numbers are also the best
|
Still waiting on our diesel though... The diesel that was promised a year ago.
|
make a new rotary car already.

You haven't heard? There will be a new Rx-7 in 2017 that makes 400HP and will be under 30k. |
