Although it's a bit far fetched, 20 years is a long time with the current rate of technological development. I'll bet they got one aspect of that car correct for that time period though. I'll bet that many of the cars on the road by then will be powered by in wheel electric motors as transmissions really are on their last legs as a dying technology.

I don't know. I believe Back to the Future II was set in 2015 and at the time that movie came out, I actually thought everything could be like that by then (minus the flying cars of course). That's only 6 years away and nothing is even remotely close to how things were portrayed in the movie. |

I at least thought we'd be using thumbprints to get into our houses by now instead of lock and key. The technology does exist but is used sparingly. Kind of disappointed I can't buy a hoverboard yet or push a button to tie my Nike's. Perhaps rotarys will have the Mr. Fusion option in 20 years.
I don't know about trannys being on their last legs in 20 years. However, the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if the manual tranny is gone by then. That will probably be considered too much work 20 years from now. |
