Yeah I dunno, I also saw a ceramic gray Miata priced around the same and all it had that was noticeably different was a front lip and BBS wheels.

Dealers count on suckers. I don't think that's representative of what Mazda intended with MSRP.

On the note of fuel economy, don't forget that new Skyactive versiobs including HCCI and SSCI are meant to come with a supercharger, for diesel-like grunt (because it's basically a diesel) and sustained torque curve (like a gas car), while also being fuel efficient at partial load where you spend most of your time.. Those aren't terrible goals.

I just checked and the average price according to truecar (actual paid price average according to them) in my area for a Mazda 3 GT is $27,150.00. And that seems about right, my ex GF had a 2010 2.5L fully loaded and it was like 24k all said and done back then. She later paid $28kish for her CX-5 Touring in 2015.

Thats the price for a Mazda3 S GT with the 2.5L motor right? I had bought the Mazda3 I with the 2.0L motor since neither is fast so why spend more to go slightly faster and get worse gas mileage. The 2.5 at that time was the old MZR while the 2.0 was the skyactiv.

Yeah it was a good car, the mileage wasn't that great at about 25MPG highway average. But it had enough pep for her.

I read that the supercharger is there because it's designed to, at times, run very lean. It has to use forced induction just to draw in that much air. It's not meant to be a power-adder.

Skyactiv-X uses a supercharger, though it's not there to increase power. In fact, Mazda calls it a "lean supercharger."

"We avoid the term 'supercharger,' because people think 2.0-liter supercharger, and they have a certain power output expectation," Chen said. "In order to achieve compression-ignition, we're using air-fuel ratios of up to 50:1, so we need to shove more air in. So, the supercharger is actually physically putting more air and EGR back into the cylinder, plus the same amount of gas."

Road & Track's Feb. 14 2018 article explaining the Skyactic-X in depth. A little more info than previously explained.

hmm.. guys, count yourself lucky.

it's 32k USD for a 1.8l vvti altis(base model) here in my country. (IDR 433,000,000 @13,500IDR/$)

44K USD for a 2.5l vvti camry(base model).

30,800 USD for a 2.0l hatchback Mazda 3

47k USD for a 2.5l sky-activ Mazda 6

last but not least, 57,750 USD for Mazda MX 5 RF

Pardon me whining.
