No more RX vision, just VISION....for this one..

This is getting perplexing.
So what is Mazda planning to do?
Range extender won't get any enthusiasts excited, and given rotary's reputation, I doubt it will be a hit among general buyers.
Honestly, I think a supercar makes the most sense for Mazda. It can be a good excuse for a lot of rotary's inherent issues.

VISION (minus the RX) is All fluff and no action, the only thing I am sure of is the KAI is the next gen Mazda 3, minus the door handle design and roof structure and wheel/brake size, everything else will remain.

Well, Mazda did say a while back that they are not planning for any sports car bigger than the MX-5...
As disappointing as it is, I think waiting is probably for the better. Rushing the development of the new rotary is just gonna make it worse.
I mean, North America waited for 7 years between the FD and RX-8. We can wait this one out.

Wheels, not rims!!

I don't care for a "New RX", that hope was long gone.
Just build me a mature entry-level (luxury) RWD sport sedan with enough power to keep up with the competition - BMW 328/330, 335/340, or the Kia Whatever-Sport-Sedan for that matter. That will make me reconsider another Mazda as my next new vehicle.

hybrid or not. hybrid race cars are in most important championships around the world.

If they want to step into the entry-level luxury market (which is a Japanese void to be filled), Mazda needs to give their cars more substance. Asking mature pricing is targeting mature buyers, which exists. However, no mature buyer is shelling out a few grand just for styling and presumably better handling, which is almost irrelevant for day-to-day commutes as Honda and Toyota have caught on in that department. If the infotainment technology and power/drivetrain isn't there, most buyers will look elsewhere.
Just a potential shopper's point of view. If Mazda wants to build appliances on wheels, at least sprinkle some character so I feel like I'm getting some substance with my money. The SkyActiv 2.5 Turbo in the CX-9 was a good move, but please keep the ball rolling.
Somewhat off topic, I probably should have posted this in the other threads. Sorry, just venting with consideration of my diminishing Mazda brand loyalty.

Holy crap the VISION COUPE is proportioned waaaaaay long... I hope they shrink that schnozzz a bit before translating that design language to production vehicles. Overall it's not bad but I think they went overboard on the length, even for a concept.
The Kai looks pretty good. They sort of exaggerated the existing 3 (lower, more pronounced boat-tail, longer nose) but it works. A hot version with the SkyActiv 2.5T and similar go-fast bits would be very tempting.

IMO the trouble with Mazda now is the so called Rotary Enthusiasts are fading away, it has had it's time, I just do not know exactly where Mazda will find new ones with the cash to buy any RE only car.
Mazda has no choice, either run with the Koreans who are pulling their pants down or go upmarket properly.
Mazda has the styling and engineers (second to none), they just got to get it right.
They tried 'luxury' with the Eunos, but it was the wrong time, as usual.
Mazda takes SO LONG to bring plans to fruition that time passes by.

i quote everything.
My "passion" for Mazda starts in 90's , FD, NA and the brand Eunos (Xedos in Europe), well build cars and great engineering. i've experienced multiple test drives in one day (dealer inauguration) of NA, Eunos500-Xedos6, and a mighty Rx-7 FD.
My opinion is that a brand like Mazda need to become a proper " japanese BMW", mainstream competition is too hard and too focused on price for them.
Not expensive like a BMW but only few K of Euros less. (not 10k like with comparable options like a 6 vs 3 series).
I'm growing old and for my next car i'm not more interested to a standard FWD 6 with "decent" engine and good but average AT.
i want more and i could pay more , RWD and proper transmission , power and torque at premium level. style is not a problem AFAIK and i see @ TMS.
