Mazda reduces bumper weights 20% thanks to new resin
They have also dropped the time needed to manufacture the pieces by half so they even use less energy in the process
When the material is used for both front and rear bumpers, it contributes to weight reduction of approximately 20%. In the bumper production process, this reduced thickness allows for a shorter cooling period for molding, and by using computer-aided engineering (CAE) technology, the fluidity of the resin material has also been optimized. I'm excited by all Mazda advancements, but, what does this mean?

the rear bumper cover being larger overall than the front bumper cover i assumed it meant if the front weighs 1 pound and the back weighs 1.5 pounds that the total weight of 2.5 is 20% less than the previous total for both components
