You see what you want to see, if your 1 car doesnt do something then all RX8s dont do it?
Google front end noise RX8...a very common issue although not all cars have it. Ive seen others have same issue.
RE: mpg issue, I didnt do a ton of highway driving...did a mix of city/hiway and still never got above 18mpg per tank....this is also a well known fact of RX8.
I had 3 rotaries, I do know what Im talking about, The RX7 was the most trouble free of all 3.
It had 146 bhp...not 160bhp that was the 1989 and forward non turbo engine. There was no 148 bhp engine in the second gen.

Nobody goes on the internet and rants about their car being perfect, so there is already uneven representation there.

I don't post here often; my point being that basically I'm just some random guy with an 8. My 8 gets 18mpg around town and 23 highway. I drive it like a normal person. I'm still on the original engine at 85,000 and no signs of trouble yet; transmission and clutch are original too. And I have no idea what 'front end noise' you're talking about.

So I'm inclined to believe that it really is just YOU :dunno:

Also, no rust issues for me, but I wash religiously in the winter. Once a week and again the day after any snowstorm.

Enjoy youy RX8's..Im sure enjoying my EVO :D

Speed_8 08-28-2011 04:39 PM

it seems like you're not enjoying your car since you\re on the forums trolling. I thought i saw an evo x today, but it was just a regular lancer, they look almost the same. Saw a chick driving too, she was hot

Chrysler and Chevrolet have got to have lower customer satisfaction....Mazda cant possibly be in last place. How can this be???

The wheel bearing problem that you link to is for vehicles made 10 yrs ago and mostly made by Ford. The RX-8 isn't listed in the link. It's something I haven't heard about on here.
"Lousy mpg", that is all relative. Rotary engines have never been known for good mileage. It's too bad you expected better. I guess you should have look at the Monroney (window) sticker or researched the car, before you bought it.

What is your point in being here? OK, you used to own a RX-8 and now it a Evo Lancer. I get that. But, every post seems to be negative. If your around, just to start trouble, your out of here.

Al ^ this is negative^ and abusive....yet, I get a warnings and private messages from you? Shouldnt people on here like him who actually are negative and abusive get a warning?.... all I did was site some problems that Ive had in the past, and why I sold my car, and also why Im hoping for improvements in the future rotary products in these areas. Why does that require such angry responses from 90% of you on here unless there is truth in my words and deep down everyone who owns one knows it??
Also Ive said in many of my posts how nicely the RX8 handles, that it is good looking and that I have owned 2 of them...I also love the whine of the engine...nothing like it anywhere. If it had more torque/hp and was awd it would be perfect.

bse50 09-02-2011 06:05 AM

Because you're a douche and joined here just to brag your new econobox.
You can leave or be forced to leave with your stupid replies and threads. Nobody will miss you either way.

because what you said was wrong, you didn't research but you got the car anyway then you whine ? that's your own stupid fault. Oh man noise ... WHAT NOISE? when was the last time you clean your ears ?

then you start coming telling us how great ur evo is blah blah blah, we got it, we know you got an Econbox with Turbo. it has no noise, it has the perfect engine(sike), it has 4 doors. oh yeah, it's an Econbox again ... oops.

warning? I was right about you ----- you are nothing but a troll. so ... what warning ?

Yay, u found a thread in 2003 that "might" be the same issue that you had. and with only how many replies again?

and you got 2 different my rx8 both had the same "issue?"

either you have shit luck, or you need to see a psychologist. cuz I think you got something called "That RX-8 sucks it must have problems syndrome"

most of us "DO NOT", I repeat, "DO NOT" have this "issue," so yea, enjoy your Econ Box with a fast turbo and never look back please.

Add that the design is stolen from the Alfa 159 with a bit of "manga" style lmao

You have come back here and are deliberately provoking RX-8 Club Members/Owners, going on about a link to a website that is not even relevant to the RX-8...which does not have a FRONT Wheel Bearing problem (at ALL)..

You then put up a link about a POWER STEERING "issue" that is a NON issue, just how many replies in that link??..ALL dated 2003.

You may be a "car guy" and I use that term very loosely...but IMO You are not welcome with your baiting, are you blind?.

Speed_8 09-02-2011 02:01 PM

in all, what did you expect when you came on this site having no posts, contributing nothing and telling us how bad your rx8 is and that you bought an evo. Did you think we would congratulate you on your purchase.. If you had any experience with the rx8 as some people here who have owned them since they came out. some people here have over 10 000 posts and they earned their right to bitch and complain about issues they have, I havn't even earned that right and still consider myself a noob, owning my car for only 2yrs..you knew what was coming your way with your initial thread and were just pissed off and felt like rubbing it in to others. Good luck with your sedan

RX8sold4EVO 09-03-2011 06:02 AM

Firstly I never said how bad the RX8 is, my very first post gave a comparison between the 2 cars and I touted the RX8 in several areas over the EVO. (Im not gonna lie, there are some things I grew tired of about my Mazda, especially as gas prices rose, but overall it's an amazing machine)

I enjoy a lively debate about cars, discussing the pros and cons to me is fun, and every car has merits. It is not a reason to slam and name call, or wish someone dead....in every single post I have never been abusive or been mean to anyone....it is simply unnecessary. What are some of you like in real life if you freak out over a car comparison? I just dont get you guys (90% of you+,-)
A few of you have been reasonable/kind and dont seem to mind an honest appraisal of the RX8, but the rest....wow!
For instance, I personally have never liked Dodges....but would I call someone names, and tell them to go away if they love Dodge cars or worse yet tell them to piss off and die (as one of your moderators did) ..? No way, when I talk to people who are passionate about something, even if I disagree, I listen and try to see their point of view. It is being open minded....and often times I learn something new. Cars are meant to be fun, and this whole experience on here has really shocked me...and some of your comments are way beyond what is reasonable. I really have to wonder how some of you manage in real life when someone disagrees with you/or says something that you dont like. Again, the RX8 is a fine machine and I wish all of you many peaceful, fun filled miles ahead. I apologize if anything I said was misunderstood or angered any of you. Peace.

nycgps 09-03-2011 03:39 PM

open mind? Kiss my ass

i will say it, go piss and die. Reason? Cuz i have enough of ur pure bs, i dont knpw about the others but i just dont agreed with every single bs that u said + the non issue that u have been repeating over and over.

I know ur evo is the best rx8 is just garbage, are u happy now? Might as well run it into a wall already.

Thank you please never come back, no one wants to see u

Bigbacon 09-03-2011 06:21 PM

guess I'm lucky so far, car has given me 0 issues and the dealership I use is just amazing. They don't give any BS, the techs come out and explain to me everything including what they did, how they did it, and any anything else of note. They also don't try to up sell me any BS stuff. Plus free wifi and good coffee :) let me work while I wait.

If it wasn't for the MPG of the 3 hatch backs, we would get one in a heart beat to replace our Santa Fe and I would totally take the car to the same dealer.

monchie 09-04-2011 01:10 AM

I was just reading some of it and i love this thread already...lol

v3rlon 09-04-2011 08:19 PM

Look, everyone makes a great car, and everyone makes a lemon. My dad had a 58 Ford that just wouldn't quit, and FoMoCo barely acknowledges that there was a 1958 model year that car was so legendarily bad for its time.

Meanwhile, I had a friend with an 81 Accord. Lets just say we could change the oil pump and cam shaft (they would go out together) in less that 2 hours with crummy lighting before we finally gave up on that thing.

Further, there are a zillion surveys out there, and SOMEONE will be at the bottom of every one of them. It will not always be the same someone.

For example - http://www.hornsbymazda.com.au/news/serves-best/

By MARTON PETTENDY

MAZDA has emerged as the standout performer in the first survey of aftersales customer service satisfaction conducted in Australia by respected global marketing information company JD Power.

The booming Japanese brand was the only vehicle brand to score more than 800 out of a maximum 1000 points in JD Power’s inaugural Australian vehicle service satisfaction survey. Mazda (806 points), Toyota (800), Honda (798) and Subaru (790) were the only brands to place above the industry average of 786 points.

The results are based on responses from more than 4550 owners of 25 different makes who had their vehicles serviced at authorised service centres between July 2009 and August 2010.

JD Power Asia Pacifi c’s 2010 Australia Customer Service Index (CSI) Study measures new-vehicle owner satisfaction with the aftersales service process by examining authorised dealership performance in five factors.
And what does it matter? Among mass market brands, Mercury was one of the highest rated by JD Power in the US, and they folded back into Ford-Lincoln.

In the end, it is very likely to do with the specific people you are working with at the dealership. Some folks are the reason care salemen became a cliche, while others are simply trying to do a good job. The trick is to find and deal with the latter more than the former.

ASH8 09-04-2011 10:29 PM

Thanks for repeating what I have always said, Mazda is #1 in Australia because of its Product and its Dealer Network...your link is .AU.

I guess on the "lemon" question..well I have never subscribed to it, and as far as Mazda is concerned and working in Parts, you know what is selling and what is not (under warranty), and I have never seen a Mazda that I would call a Lemon.

Lemon OWNERS...Definately.

My definition of a Lemon is a car that is still under B2B man warranty with repeated non-fixable issues....that are an actual issue, not someones (owners) imagination.

And Please don't start talking about Recalls or TSB's..
1. The RX-8 has had no more Recalls than any other Mazda.
2. No more TSB's than any other Mazda.

The TSB's you see here are just a copy of what comes out of Japan and Americanised, don't think MNAO does any work because they don't...they just copy and paste...report.

MMC have always been terrific with their TSB's and warranty...they always act off in-field issues pretty quickly where they can...this is a sign of a GOOD BRAND.

The issue for Mazda in the US , is MNAO and its network and the US made Mazda 6.

I will bet my balls (well :) ) you will see a dramatic US survey rise once all Mazda product comes out of Japan....look around the 2014-2015-2016 surveys.

No car made today is meant to last for decades without spending money on it...really it has always been that way.

Just thought I would let you know Mazda in Australia OFFICIALLY had their best month EVER...10.4% market share for MA here (1.9% MN America O).

Mazda 3 was the best selling car here, and in its class.(August)
Mazda 2,6, CX-7 also #1 in Class.

nycgps 09-05-2011 10:25 PM

Does anybody know the sales number for Mazda in Canada ?

I'm in Montreal right now and it seems that there is a lot, I mean A LOT of Mazda 2 and Mazda 3 running around, seems that people here prefer smaller more efficient cars than oversized SUV.

also a lot of VW TDI, guess Sky-D will sell here easily.
