As I have not physically seen the model (RF)..
I don't like the 3/4 look or rear corner, just looks really heavy/ugly *** with little tail lamps (see 0.18 sec on vid).
I don't particularly like the large lifting canopy, but what else could they do, seriously it did not wow me as I was expecting a full convertible I guess.
I also thought straight away, what sort of blind spot would there be.
But the ND is a heavier looking car to any Miata before it, partly because of regulation.
IMO this is a compromise model as I knew MMC were going for a fully MRHT (Manual Retractable Hardtop) which was US patent a few years back, but they could not perfect it.
Will pass final judgement when I see it, love the ND interior, way better than my NC.

interesting article from some random blog
rest of article: 2018 Mazda CX-5 could get SkyActiv turbo engine
Mazda has confirmed it’s bringing the 2018 Mazda CX-5 to the 2016 LA Auto Show this month. Specifications of the all-new model haven’t been released but reports have begun speculating on what powers it.
Mazda currently has a turbocharged engine for the Mazda CX-9, and reports say that the CX-5 could be the next vehicle to benefit from this hardware. The CX-5’s arch rival, the 2017 Honda CR-V, gets a turbocharged engine for the first time, giving Mazda another reason to fast-track its turbo variant to the market.

I hope diesels are coming - I'd love a 3 hatch/wagon MT in diesel. My dream wagon (Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio wagon MT isn't coming unless I go there). Alfa Romeo Giulia Wagon in the Cards, at Least for Europe ? News ? Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog

Wheels, not rims!!

It's either the best time or the worst time for diesels in the U.S. market considering a huge portion of the pie is available with VW out of the game. A note worthy mention - I absolutely see more "gas" stations in the North East with diesel than ever before. Diesel supplying stations were impossible to find in New York City five years ago.

alongside the launch of new cx-5 ,Mazda CEO have told to some car journalist that the company will launch an EV car in 2019(in some markets) and a plug-in hybrid in 2021 (worldwide).
This will be part of the agreement signed with Toyota.

Side note: VW are dropping DIESELS in USA.
As Audi are also now heavily involved with Diesel-gate, I would assume this applies to all VAG product sold in USA..
VW
Audi
Porsche
Seat (which I don't think you guys get)

Saw the CX5 in LA.
WOW.
That is a great looking car. Unfortunately on stage so couldn't get inside but that white interior looked stunning on the Soul Red Crystal

We just had our international Auto show here and I have to say the Mazda line up is very nice for the price. The new CX-9 signature series (or whatever it's called) is a pretty awesome value.
But from an enthusiast stand point, there is nothing outside of the Miata and well, it's just a nicer Miata than the last one.

yep the SRC crystal paint looks really 'special' from what I have been told, a breakthrough finish which really steps Marzda up to the top of class.
Exxxxxcelennnt Smithers!
BTW, Also new colours with this 'crystal' treatment too, and they need it..
Now IF only they made the 2.0 and 2.5 in Turbo for the Mazda 3,6, MX-5 which BADLY needs.

yeah, I'm really hoping they do that crystal treatment to all colors in 2017 because as gorgeous as that red looks, it's not my style. I appreciate the color but I can't see myself driving one.
I look forward to this spring so I can take one out for a test drive and then compare it to the Diesel a few months later.
P.S., that interior looks sexy
