Didn't they make this in Japan already? Earlier model year.

As the article say the MX-5 NB Coupe was made for the JDM towards the end of the NB's production cycle.

I like it too, it has lines that hint of a Italian sports car.
|
^ thats what I thought the instant I saw it, very nice car.
|
looks very nice...

I dig it. Hopefully the C-pillar would not look like that in the pic. I love the look of the latest MX-5 but could/would not buy a convertible as far as a newer car is concerned. There is a retractable hard top version but I would probably never put the top down. Something about a fixed roof coupe appeals to me though. Maybe cause it would look a little more muscular...

That car according to my Mazda guy was actualy produced in Japan but only something like 30 were made. It was all hand made and now unavailable. I like the new one though.
|
The current MX-5 hardtop-retractable is pretty sweet.
|
I'm with J converts don't really appeal to me either. Wonder why they wouldn't produce these, it seems like it would be profitable being that it would appeal to a lot more customers. I guess tooling cost would outweigh the profits, damn money running everything. I wouldn't get the mx5 convert, but would def consider this.
wonder how much it effects the handling, good or bad? |
This with a Renesis or a 16X would be absolutely lethal.
|
I just can't stop staring at this thing. It's beautiful. It looks like someone took a 350Z and just.... fixed it, and the results are amazing. Maybe I'm just a sucker for a fastback, but if Mazda makes this for USDM I'm buying one... then throwing a rotary in it.
|
But isn't that what the PRHT is for? It has a coupe profile when top is up and 'vert when it's down.

I want my coupe profile to be a kind of like a fast back though. Where the back pillars slope at fairly shallow angle all the way to the tip of the ass. (Audi TT like) This would add a little more cargo room for a bonus. |

I think it looks like a miniature FD. Put a rotary in it and call it done.

it actually looks pretty darn good! Very italian, yet reminds me of an FD. Strange combo but it works.
|
i like it alot better as a coupe...looks like less of a chick car...
|
agreed the roof line is very FD'esque. I love it!
|
italian?
i think the rear roof looks like an aston martin. the car is hot. i'd definitely consider it if it had the new 16x in it. |
I'd much rather see them put the MS3/6 engine in it than a rotary.
Nothing against the rotary, but there's something to be said for a sports car with a beefy mid range. |
