Isn't the CX-5 replacing the CX-7?

Also depends on what they mean by "new" models. I'm guessing they have to mean model redesigns as well. Comparing the above list to Mazda's current lineup, the Tribute, CX-9, CX-7, Mazda5, and RX-8 are not listed.

So at least add the Tribute, CX-9, and Mazda5 to the list. That's pretty disheartening from a rotary perspective.

I wonder if this is to make stock holders their new business partner?

You're right, it's just that I never saw a cx9 here so in my little bugged brain the "Big" suv was the cx7!

my bets:
6 - a SUV that could merge CX-7 and CX-9, mainly based on new 6 chassis, 5+2 seater
7 - a new minivan Skyactiv based
8 - rotary car (share platform with mx-5)

You think they would select a new rotary over a replacement for the Tribute pickup?

I would agree that the Tribute fits Mazda far less than a rotary would, but one makes money, the other doesn't.

I'm pretty sure the cx5 is replaceing the cx7 and tribute. So one slot will be the cx9 replacement, one for the 5-minivan and last one for a rotary.

.
Tribute is a "dead men walking" (speaking worldwide), the sales are limited to US and Canada. Tribute is a part of finished "Ford story"

i think that CX5 si the replacement....CX7 is also off the line (excluding US/CDN/MEX markets)...

Hmm. Good point.

Would definitely be nice if that 8th slot is powered by triangles

Mazda5 is too small to be considered a mpv replacement.

In case someone here doesnt know. There is actually a mpv replacement in japan and asia area. Its called mazda8. Yep the 8. It came out years ago

So i would say the list will be somehing like this

Mazda2 for low low low end
Mazda3 for low to mid end hatch and sedan
Mazda6 mid range or just it a bit more upscale, genesis sedan anyone?
Cx5 to replace cx7
Mazda8 with skyactiv
A pick up kind of truck, they will dump the tribute name i think
Next gen miata, ND
A halo car just for show off purposes only

Where is mazda5? For me that kind is in the middle of nowhere, its not spacious enough to be called a van,and its not that much bigger than a mazda3 hatch. So i think they will dump that.

They have sky-d so a pickup truck makes perfect sense.

Miata is already in the works so u know that will be part of the 8 cars.

And why a halo car? Cuz every damn company, no matter how small or big, needs a halo car. Halo car never makes any money, its just there to make people remeber the brand, like when they see that car, without seeing the badge they will think of mazda. Just like everytime i see a gtr i will think of nissan, and when i see a supra i think of toyota.

ford and mazda are killing the escape/tribute.

Mazda5 is their "van".

everything I've read says the CX7 is going away.

so 6 - Mazda5
7 - CX7/CX-9 midsize SUV replacement
8 - Halo car...

And you can forget ANYTHING rotary for at least a decade...
With the money they are burning every month it wont happen...as I keep saying.

Now in their 4th year of straight losses.

Mazda needs to divest itself from the Ford/Maz Flat Rock plant, 60% of all their losses are in the USA and 90% of that is from that plant.

It is a fantastic car. it gets the best mileage of anything that can carry 6 in the states and outside of here theres an extra jump seat that lets it hold 7. look at the financials and you will see that MNAO has seen quarter after quarter after quarter of increasing sales for the Mazda5. they will in no way dump that car. as for its size, well its actually the same size as the original Dodge Caravans that started the whole minivan segment

rigth . tribute is dead but Mazda 5 is not their only van.

The only glimmer of hope is a rotary option on the new MX-5...and even that is extremely unlikely...if that doesn't happen we will never see another rotary car.
