Mazda CX-9 To Get 3.7L V6 For Australia
Local news papers are saying that the new R.H.D Mazda CX-9 scheduled for release here in Australia in December 2007 is to has a 3.7 Litre (not US 3.5l) Quad Can V6 Engine?
Does Ford make a 3.7 Litre DURATEC? OR Could this be a Mazda Only redesign of a bored out 3.5l? Perhaps and more than likely the USA will also have the "new" larger motor for next years LHD CX-9... The writer also said that the CX-9 is also to be exported to "other" RHD markets... like the United Kingdom/New Zealand/Asia. |
Where have you been ? :)
Mazda Japan has been working on a 3.7L for a while now, it was slated for the CX-9 and new Mazda6, but didn't get finished and tested in time for the first model year of the 9... So next year, the CX-9 will get the 300HP 3.7L all Mazda motor, and the new Mazda6 will get it when it premiers... California has already approved the car/engine, so that is always a good step in the road... http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/ccvl/2008ccvl.htm |

A Mazda6 with a 300hp 3.7L V6?
Huh.....that would be pretty cool. |
I'm sure Ford will want it, since they want most everything that Mazda designs.

Thanks...I remember reading something about Mazda improving the over head system (Valves, intake, exhaust) but not c capacity...
This may change, but, I doubt it, Australia is only scheduled to get the 4 banger in the new Mazda 6...unless anyone has heard differently. We have not had a V6 Mazda 6 ever, the last V6 was the GD Mazda 626 The V6 Mazda 6 is only for NA market AFAIK. I am also guessing here, but, I also gather your new 6 will be made at Flat Rock? As I can not see where MMC Japan has the capacity at Hofu Plant to make the 8,000 or so a month for the US.. |

haha, well they do need each other and right now they're so close, it's like husband and wife. Thanks to Ford's financial support, Mazda is where they are today (although I'm sure if they were offered up for sale, somebody else would've grabbed them).
