Mazda CX-4 Debut
The new Mazda CX-4 debuted in China yesterday as a China only Model. It's lower and longer than the CX-5 while retaining the same wheel base.
Mazda CX-4 breaks cover as China-only model | Motor1.com When i first heard about it I was thinking "what are they doing slipping another model below cx-5?" But now after seeing it I get it. I tested CX-3 and CX-5 recently and found the CX-3 perhaps a little small buuuut the CX-5 just a little too tall for my tastes. I think this CX-4 could sit in that sweet spot and I think they ought to give it a chance here and in other countries. It's really just a more wagon-ish version and without a Mazda 6 wagon here it might do well. It looks to have more cargo space behind the rear seats than the CX-5. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...cb958e0a82.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...3f725292cc.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...2182285428.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...415903fd1d.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...723d8e35b6.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...d80374075f.jpg |

well that's different looking.
|
just read through the specs linked to in the autoblog story about cx-4. CX-4 is actually shorter in height than the CX-3 by just overa quarter inch. 60.7 inches/1541 for the CX-3 60.4 inches/1535 mm for CX-4. Minimum Ground clearance is 6.1" for CX-3 and 7.5ish" for the CX-4
Mazda's slick new CX-4 crossover is sadly only for China |
It's nearly 2 inches wider, 3 inches taller, 7 inches longer and is 1.5" greater in ground clearance than the Mazda 3 hatch. It's a Mazda 3 wagon. bring it )

I like this new CX-4.. But how many crossovers can a company make??
|
apparently not enough.
What's next: CX-2 or the return of the CX-7? |
Almost as ugly as the Honda Crosstour (which is being discontinued because nobody is buying it)

If what they want is goofy looking stretched cars on stilts, give them what they want. Maybe one day they will give us what we want. BC. |

I like it, actually.
Zoom, isn't the 3 and 6 architecture the same these days? Not platform but architecture; it's obvious they are not the same size. Paul. |
i believe so Paul

Mazda is taking a page out of BMW's model offering book by offering a model for every digit.
This CX-4 is far from being a Honda Xtour. Not as bulky and frumpy looking. I don't know any Mazda is actually. It reminds me of the Infiniti EX35 or Q-whatever it is called nowadays. Sporty looking but lacking cargo functionality. With the absence of the Mazda6 wagon here, I don't mind settling in one of these. I say bring it! |
i noticed some new pictures of the CX-4 floating about and starting looking around for more. a Bing or Google image search will show lots of newer pics in various colors. this one was the really interesting one - the first I've seen of the CX-4 and CX-5 together :)
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...aeae0cfc07.jpg I also found this video from china. it's long and I havent watched it all myself yet ????YYP??CX-4?????????????????? - AcFun????? - ?????? (???)?- ( ?- ?)?? |
hmmm.
I like that picture, really shows how sleak it is compared to the 5. suddenly the 5 looks very 'tall' |
