Keep your rotors carbon free......

Cheap gas, with inadequate additives, can build up deposits on your rotors.....

There is no doubt that there is not enough dispersant additive in regular gas, the minimum that the EPA mandates has declined 50% recently, not enough to keep injectors, valves and piston tops clean. (and DEFINITELY not enough to keep the carbon off rotor faces!)

It is no secret which gas companies make the 'good stuff', the government keeps a list - these companies have agreed to sell only 'Top Tier' gas at all their outlets.

Chevron
Entec
Conoco
Phillips
QuikTrip
76
Shell

The good guys....

Sad to say, they are the ONLY ones you can rely on for adequate protection.

If you read the test procedures, you will notice that the regular gas with no additives will plug injectors like crazy, and build up a heavy weight of crap on the hot engine parts.

"Hear me now, and believe me later", I make gasoline for one of the companies on that list, at the most modern refinery in North America, and we run test engines 24/7 to check the quality.....fuel your '8' with gas that has adequate deposit protection - please!

Hey StealthTL:
Thanks for the info.
What would you suggest for an additive if none of the above mentioned fuels are available in my area?

Damn the gas prices man, Shell V Power is all I use. :)

Actually, my car sounds better when running the V Power instead of the mid grade.

Funny you posted this. I was just telling my girlfriend about this subject earlier.

If there is no T.T. gas in your area, that 'Techron' additive that Chevron sells is proven stuff, and available at PepBoys/Autozones.

Member TRZ750 posted about a Yamaha additive his company makes, called 'Ring Free' - I don't know it, haven't used it, but he has good results with big outboard motors staying deposit-free.

Doesn't doing redline runs every now and then clear out the carbon deposits as well?

poorman 03-22-2005 03:16 AM

Ah man....
and Costco gas was so cheap...

I guess its Shell and Chevron time...

StealthTL 03-22-2005 03:19 AM

Redlining......

Sure, redlining is beneficial, but it does little for your injectors.

Guess I'll be using Shell from now on....................
