Well, from what I understand, GM actually had a buyer for Pontiac (supposedly BMW) but GM refused to sell the nameplate. So speculation started that Pontiac may return as a pure performance brand, only offering a few cars...a retro Trans Am, a GTO (done right this time) and some small performance coupe or roadster similar to what the Solstice was. I can only hope. I want that freakin' Trans Am!!!
But on the other hand, some speculate the GM simply wants Pontiac dead and refused to sell the name because they were afraid someone else may turn the brand into what it should be and make GM look bad in the process. How they can look any worse than they already do is beyond me. They should have dumped Buick and GMC and kept Pontiac. Seems like they were actually starting to turn things around with the G6 and G8. If they think they are going to use the Buick brand to compete with luxury brands like Lexus and Acura they are flaming idiots. It will never happen.
