K&n

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has a K&N air filter in there RX-8??? I was wondering if there would b better gas mileage then a oem mazda filter........ I'm not really looking for more horsepower but better gas mileage and cost saving when replacing the filter.

Thanx:)

I'd say the main cost saver is not having to buy new air filters after the K&N.. and tons of us have one in.

Thanx 4 the reply!!!! With the K&N in .... is car better on fuel???? I know when I had one in my bimmer it liked to drink the fuel..... But in my R6 it seems to be better......

The only intake that seemed to give better fuel economy was Racing Beat and maybe 5hp. A lot of members have said they got 3-5 extra mpg, albeit you don't have a lead foot. Not so sure about the K&N intake.

I just put the filter in about 2 weeks ago also did
the stock air box mod by taking one of the "screens" out...
and have noticed i went a little longer without having
to put gas since i always only put $20. But i cant really tell if its due to the fact that im on
a budget ( speeding ticket
this month), and have been driving 55mph to school and work..lol
but really driving slower is the way to go for saving gas.... cause
when i red line often i can see the damn needle move...

i think that was more of a placebo effect when they first came out..

i have had the racing beat intake and duct on for ~ 65k miles. mpg is the same.

only increase in mpg would be from replacing a really dirty one with a clean one.

beers

Oh, in that case, there is no hope of an intake that increases mpg. lol

Thanx for the replys.......... If a K&N will give me the same gas milage as a stock air filter I'm cool with that.... I just like the fact that the K&N is re-usable :)

k&n didn't improve my mpg, but it makes my throttle slightly more responsive.
