It's OFFICIAL: Maybe not. Rotary Mazda 2 Prototype
|
neat! 330cc rotary?
|
Interesting...
|
Would you like to see the rotary engine return as an efficient range-extender? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below...
yes I would, I want to see them wherever I can. cool! :) |
Yes, absolutely. I'd much rather have a rotary in my Volt than the POS 1.4 Ecotec that's in there now.
|
video!
330 cc engine opened! |
There is another video that I can't find at the moment. Definitely still has the signature rotary sound. Hopefully we can see this in a more developed test mule.

so i have my own but do you have theories on why there is a side exhaust faux port on the housing when its clearly peripheral exhaust?
|
Anybody notice the engine has peripheral exhaust ports? One off the side plates appears to have a side exhaust port that is filled in.
EDIT: Zoom you beat me to it. |
Actually very very weird! If you look at the second video, it gives a better picture of the side plates and rotor housings. The side intake ports are filled in, and the side exhaust port is open. The peripheral port on the rotor housing is an INTAKE port! Weird. Peripheral intake, side exhaust.

that engine is designed to run at constant speed, i think that ports are quite different than a "normal" car engine.
that is a rotary generator |
