c'mon, the rx-8 is a great car, but the g35 has more horsepower and torque. and, yes definitely a better 0-60 time (unless you're gonna count on driver error, but in that case i can turn faster in a prius than a really crappy slow driver does in a ferarri).

Like in every armchair racing, considering the driver is the same. in this case the OP. err... mazda6 owners. :uhh: :)

RX 8 is smoother. Can't feel any vibration as it has very few parts.

Rx 8 is more unique. Does he change his own oil? If yes get the 8.

If no get the G35

let's not talk track cuz that's harder to get an objective comparison.

for the original poster, see what's important to him out of these categories:

gas mileage, luxury, comfort, handling, connectedness, uniqueness, power, sporty look, dealer treatment, resale value, reliability, price, less maintenance.

for each one of these, give a point to the g35: gas mileage, luxury, comfort, power, dealer treatment, resale value, less maintenance.

for each one of these give a point for the rx8: price, handling, connectedness, uniqueness, sporty look.

Which ever one has a higher score for him, he should get (provided he's still undecided after the test drives).

Excellent points here.

On getting a used RX-8, we looked at a 2005 GT with 17k miles. Dealer asking $20k with 2.5 years of warranty left on it. The car is in excellent, not mint, condition. Somewhat of a downside is the rear tires are different brands (Dunlops) from the front tires (Bridgestone RE040). I guess the four tires will need to be replace with something else then...Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 perhaps.

Well in that case the G35 is faster, silly. :)

Thanks opus_opus.

and dmp, it's sad when fanboiness gets to you and they're praising the thing you like. :)

I'd say get the 8. He'll be bored with the sedan quick... plus it's not nearly as sweet.
