Ice Scraper

Anyone have or know of a good ice scraper for the 8? For some reason the one I have does not work very well on the windshield. :(

What I use is a disgarded CD case...I works well, flexible to follow the wqindsheild and doesn't scatch like the metal edge ones do.

For light ice....

....I have found that an old credit card  works great as it is flexiblle enough to conform to curves!

um what kind of wussy ice are you dealing with :p

use a STRONG scraper, that has a slight curver in it...and doesn't have a brush and all sorts of gadgets attached to it...really I find that annoying when the ice is laid on thick on its 20 below zero (thats fahrenheit)

actually when winter comes around sometimes it will be a half to 3/4ths an inch thick...requires some serious leverage to get it off and I've broken many an ice scraper in my lifetime, but then again I live in minnesota, maybe the Ca guys can chime in and tell us their horror stories

I'm sure he just bought a scraper from a gas station and put a mazda sticker on it to add 20 more HP to it

It IS a freeby with an oil change, but I'm pretty sure it's only in Canukville.

....and the sticker is only worth 10hp, so I've already complained to Mazda.

S :D

Nevermind the scraper, how do you get the slush off the car without scratching the paint?

Drive really fast, and corner hard :D

Howard 11-18-2004 02:41 PM

I was afraid of that also, the slush that is . I used a scraper on my old car but no way on my RX8. If you don't have a garage there are portable garages that are reasanable around 500 or maybe a car cover.

Not really sure if this is the most economical solution. But does anyone have remote start on their 8's? It would have other purposes of course besides melting the ice, because it would warm up your engine etc. The application is mostly for AT but there are some applications for MT, not sure about the 8 though. If I lived back up north, I'd look into it.

actually one of our members has already had a remote start installed for his MT...the RX-8 project we've all been waiting for 'Devoid' I think the website for his project is:

http://devoid.mine.nu/ look over the pics and you can follow the progression of the mods, it is insane really...must cost more then the car itself :) :)
