Wonder if it improves cornering ability, having twice the tread up front?

No More Oldsmobiles 06-26-2005 04:18 PM

Yes, cornering ability is the rationale for Covini's six wheeled sportscar

"The six wheeled design offers many advantages over a conventional design as it offers more traction for cornering and braking and minimises the risks associated with tyre punctures and aquaplaning."

Wouldn't you love to drive one of these just to see the reactions?

VelociRedBeast 06-26-2005 04:26 PM

agentx100 06-26-2005 04:38 PM

Wonder if it comes with a spare tire or tires?

The Tyrrell P34 was a 6-wheel formula 1 car in the 70 that won an F1 race and finished 2nd in several more. The theory is that there is a larger contact patch giving more front traction. Also in F1 the wheels were only 10 inches. This gave and advantage since the least aerodynamic part of an open wheel race car is the front tires. The car only lasted 1 year because nobody would make 10 inch F1 tires for 1 team.
