How do you guys feel about the Scion TC?

I dunno, I kinda think its a nice little car and cheap too. Good modding car and the insurance is probably low.

Steiner 11-30-2005 01:48 PM

Good bang for the buck and Toyota has released a factory warrantied TRD supercharger kit for it. Then again, how the hell you gonna call a car "TC" without a turbo charger?

Ike 11-30-2005 01:52 PM

I'm starting to hate them, not really because of the car but the people that tend to drive them. I'm sick of stupid kids acting all hard in their TC, driving like morons, and just doing typical ricer nonsense. The car as a whole, meh, pretty good value but nothing I would ever buy.

Sephiroth 11-30-2005 01:54 PM

That S/C is a joke. People serious about F/I should try something from ZPI. The tC is surprisingly good considering it has a version of the camry engine, a buddy of mine has one.

^ yeah i agree, seen a lot of riced, aggressive drivers of em in dc area trying to lunge and start races.
they remind me too much of the Paseo.

hemanrulez 11-30-2005 01:57 PM

have any of you guys driven it? How would it compare to an 8?

I agree. I've met a few people that try to act all hard only to find out they drive a tc. It is a great car, but the people that drive it makes the car look bad on the streets.

my coworker has one. it's actually nice, seems very solid. i'm about 6'1 and she's about 5'10/11ish, for me, i found myself hitting my head getting in out and just moving about in there.

rx8wannahave 11-30-2005 02:48 PM

Performance is poor (and the car is a little heavy for it’s size) and it's fuel economy (for it's size) is also not very impressive, but looks...price, sunroof and interior are dang good.

It was a car I considered just in case my dream of an 8 didn't happen!

map 11-30-2005 02:52 PM

it's a fine car for a teenage girl. Other than that, not really imo

Jedi54 11-30-2005 03:29 PM

Why is it that every TC owner wants to race me?!

I guess they just feel really cool when they squeel the tires out and see that I'm 20 feet behind them. Little do they know that they're not worth my time. :icon_no2:

As for the car itself, it's nice looking from the outside. That dual sunroof is kind of cool but I'm not sure I'd ever buy one.
Probably a good car for high school kids since it's so cheap.

TC vs RX-8
:pokeowned

czr 11-30-2005 03:36 PM

For $16k to start, it's a good value. I mean, 160 hp, 24mpg, ABS, mp3, sunroof, turn signals on side view mirrors, nice 17" wheels, power everything and this is standard. 0-60 in about 7.5 seconds, 60-0 in about 130 feet. I think it looks good and Toyota reliability to boot on a proven engine. I don't know why people are complaining. Oh yea auto up and down windows too. It does not compare to the 8 though more like the 3.

This car was supposed to be marketed for younger crowd but many older folks are buying it. I was crosshopping this and a Mazda3 for my sister. I was pushing for the Mazda3s but she went for this. She is 19 though, but I wish I had this car at 19.

cons: weak trunk space, (i would also say fwd but it is irrelevant). seriously, i thought long and hard and that's it

DreRX8 11-30-2005 03:37 PM

One of my homeboy's wife has one--from a value standpoint its an excellent car for the money with some niceties for that price (the panorama roof and turn signal mirrors are nice). From a performance standpoint...well, its cool and has/will have a nice aftermarket but its fairly heavy--not exactly tossable. Other than the weight issue the suspension could be firmed up as well as the power added. I'd have one as my daily if I just had disposable income.

Dinhx8 11-30-2005 03:48 PM

i have no problems with the car itself, mainly have had bad exp with its drivers.
many of them think its a bit more than it is in my experience, and opinion only...

again. to me, it reads GLORIFIED PASEO.

Glyphon 11-30-2005 04:23 PM

before i bought my 8, i was seriously looking at getting a tC. when i added all the extras onto it that i wanted, it was coming in just a bit over 21k. then for some reason or another, i started looking around at other cars near that price range. then i started considering the rx8 and 350z. when i found my 8 for 22k it was a no-brainer to make the jump up. i still wouldn't mind having a tC, but not a chance i'd give up my 8 for it.

Mugatu 11-30-2005 05:34 PM

the car needs 200HP to keep up.

nzarnow 11-30-2005 05:48 PM

Why don't you guys ask Klegg what he thinks about his? I'm sure an actual owner would know alot...

hemanrulez 12-01-2005 10:39 AM

I think Toyota have a winner on their hands. First they corner the middle class market with Toyota, then the luxury market with Lexus and now the Gen Y market with Scion.

All while American companies like GM and Ford wonder what they are doing wrong.

I dunno, the only people i ever see driving Scions are old ladies.

DreRX8 12-01-2005 01:39 PM

I see young college girls in the tC. According to an autospies link the average age of a tC owner is 35+

Ike 12-01-2005 02:06 PM

The Median age is 49 for TC owners in the link I saw, but 32% of buyers were gen. y.

Glyphon 12-01-2005 02:33 PM

^^^ median average is different than mean average. so you both could be right.
