Honda's at it again - New 2006 Civic Engines

while the absolute numbers of the 1.8L may not seem overly impressive, what they are not showing is the power curve, which if its anything like the K20 in the RSX, is flat as a board, which means it will feel much more torquey than you would expect. In addition, the variable length intake is a nice touch also. They re taking City Economy in the 30s and HWY in the 40's. Thats Non Hybrid!

Damn I wish they would build something other than FWD cars.

...like their AWD sedan, and TWO major, world-class RWD sports cars? ;)

you know what I mean :)

One 4,000lb AWD car, 1 Dead RWD car and 2 seat motorcycle to me doesn't qualify. I want a RWD 3 series fighter.

Also, they need to take out the 'boring' in their recipe. Their cars are the visual equal to sleeping pills.

"The eighth-generation Honda Civic will be arriving shortly - right on schedule for its five-year cycle"

These Honda people face the same dilemma as soap marketers, how to make something (like every high-production Honda being made today) terribly boring, looking even more non-descript and un-eventful to the eye. Admittedly - that's a tough assignment!

Historically, I've owned 4 Accords, but stopped buying them in the 80s as they began the arduous process of squeezed every last drop of excitement (and good style) from their newer designs.

Looks like they may have reached the final refinement of 'bland', if that is a possible thing.

Front- yek! Side - zero-nada-a slab. Rear - at least it IS going away and out of sight!
:(

What a shame a heretofore classy car company has gone so completely to making cars as appliances - ONLY

Its amazing how boring Honda can make a great car.
The Honda accord Hybrid is a pretty awsome car : Great acceleration, good fuel economy, room for 4, decent price, honda reliabaility.

I breifly considered it before I bought an rx-8. That ended when I saw it in person and it screamed 'boring family car'.

At least the Altima, Maxima and Mazda 6 have some exciting looks.

If Honda made the Accord Hybrid sporty looking, it would sell more to people looking for a preformance car that can also carry the kids (like the RX-8)
