damn looks sick,,looks just like a g37,i bet nissan is pist haha

Daemos 09-03-2008 02:58 PM

I think they'd be more pissed at the pricing...which fully loaded V6 is supposed to be easily under 30K (with rumors around 25k) and the base Turbo is under 20K...

CyberPitz 09-03-2008 03:08 PM

Wow, that's one sexy car!

Shinka_MJR 09-03-2008 03:21 PM

i hate the stretched Elantra grill and retarded grin front bumper on that car. I know the red one in the article doesn't show what i am talking about. that's a body kit. Look at the actual production car and you will see what i mean.

by the way, here's an enthusiast forum for the coupe: http://www.newgenesiscoupe.com/

It's an offshoot from http://www.newtiburon.com/ which i used to be heavily involved in until i sold mine and got my 8.

CyberPitz 09-03-2008 03:50 PM

Oh god, those headlights made me lol here at work....It's such a happy car!

nycgps 09-03-2008 04:00 PM

wow, first its clone cats, sheeps, dogs, cows ....

now I see a god damn G37 clone ! OMG !

Cant those Koreans come up with their own designs or something? jeeze

kersh4w 09-03-2008 04:24 PM

its a retarded step brother clone...

it has nowhere near the style or class, and i bet nowhere near the performance either. i'd like to know how badly (well?) they handle.

I can't comment on the handling part except it does have an optional Torsen LSD.

As far as performance you have a choice of a 312hp 3.8L v6 (and it has a better power/weight ratio than the G37)

or a 2.0L turbocharged I4 based off the world engine platform (same engine used in the Evo X essentially) for your happy modding pleasure that has something like 220 hp. But has forged internals a low compression ratio and all the fun stuff =)

If Hyundai makes it right with the handling it could be a very good car to buy =)

Hyundai and sports car just don't belong together.

comments like this simply vomit ignorance... remember, japanese cars were considered with the same flippant disregard not too very long ago.

um no, they do not belong together based on what type of cars they have out there. ignorance? no. my opinion? yes.

not sure where you are getting your information about japanese cars either....I know I never would have said....mazda and sports car don't belong together....

for god sakes its a freakin hyundia! they are made of plastic on the inside and their sheet metal is made from soda cans and their paint is lower quality than the worst body shop around. I'm sorry, but I will never own a hyundai "sports car"

just my opinion so you know :uhh:

thecow135 09-03-2008 08:42 PM

right now they might not, but you never know in a few years.

thecow135 09-03-2008 09:20 PM

actually the genesis sedan might handle like shit but it's actually quite elegant. The pics looked ugly to me until i saw one in person. I thought it was a new 7 series. So since the genesis coupe looks ugly... maybe it'll handle good!

Based on your logic, Toyota doesn't make sports cars either...

And if we were to step into a modern hyundai you'd notice the interior is on part with Honda and Toyota.

As well as lower paint quality, I'm not too sure on your sources, but IMO Japanese car companies have issues with paint quality now a days, including Nissan, Subaru, and Honda.

This screams of ignorance and refusal of acceptance of change in the world. Yes...change happens, people DO improve, you know like how samsung used to be a little radio repair shop, and how they build some of the best LCD Panels (which are used in Many different brands of Monitors) and some of the best hard drives, memory modules and cell phones in the world. You wouldn't even think of buying anything 'samsung' 20 years ago...but now they are amongst the top of the top.

Maybe something closer to home would be Apple, even 10 years ago most people wouldn't want to try a mac, but now many people want to jump on the mac bandwagon, and people are staying there because....*gasp* they've improved and changed.

Not close enough? Well lets look at mazda, before the 3, 6 (and maybe the P5) came out, most people wouldn't even put mazda on their list of shopping when buying cars like the corolla, civic, accord, camry...now people cross shop the 3 to the civic and corolla all the time, and the 6 to the accord and camry. Why? Because Mazda improved, started using higher quality materials, made cars that looked better, etc etc. and people started to take notice.

That's the same kind of opinion the Big Three US automakers and the consumers had when Japanese cars first came on these shores. Look at the situation they are now in.

Considering the timeframe, I think Hyundai is capturing the U.S. market faster than when Japanese first did so.

We need to look out for China and India also. Nothing to sneer at.

Haha...being Chinese...I don't know if I could trust too many things out of China...unless if they seriously up their quality...which is exactly what Hyundai/Kia have been doing...targeting companies like Honda and Toyota. It seems most of the Chinese manufactures are more happy making cheaper quality stuff and higher quantity,

Can't really comment on India.

05rex8 09-03-2008 09:30 PM

i don't care how much you pick my opinions apart, I'm sticking to it as, i work in a body shop and have many hours of work into crappy hyundai's....so don't say I don't know what I am talking about...I've seen their crappy interiors 923394820394 times and their body panels and paint are awful.

oh and you people read into things a little too much

Yes but opinions CAN be wrong, and having an open mind about things helps the world advance faster =)

05rex8 09-03-2008 09:34 PM

I don't like toyota either for what it's worth, so don't play that one

Every automaker needs a place to start. Initially, one makes cars just barely good enough to make a solid profit using parts and technology ripped off of established cars. Research and development costs a lot of money, so ripping off is very rational from a business perspective. Design also costs a lot of money and is clearly a luxury of the established automaker. Again, ripping off designs is very rational. The Japanese did it. Now they're established enough to invest in their own design team.

Audis, LeLands, and VWs were also pieces of shit at one time.
