Just the facts, Ma'am: 705 hp and 717 lb-ft of torque from a modified LS9 crate engine, optional 15-in carbon-ceramic brakes borrowed from the Corvette ZR1, a carbon-fiber body kit and pay-to-play price of $109,500. Meet the Hennessey HPE700 Camaro.

"The HPE700 Camaro allows our customers to combine supercar power and performance with classic American muscle car looks in a modern, daily-drive usable sportscar with a backseat and a trunk," said John Hennessey, President and CEO of Hennessey Performance Engineering. "We will be announcing other Hennessey turnkey vehicle packages for the 2010 Camaro in the near future along with an extensive list of aftermarket performance parts and accessories. But for now, the LS9-powered HPE700 Camaro, replete with ZR1 inspired looks and performance promises to be at the top of the American muscle car food chain later in 2009."

That's right, muscle car maniacs. The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro hasn't even hit the dealer floors yet and Hennessey has already shoehorned a tweaked LS9 into one. What's more, they'll do it for you, too, if you have the cash. Along with the monster supercharged V-8, the HPE700 will come with a carbon-fiber Cam-Aero body kit that features a carbon-fiber front splitter, rear lip spoiler, rocker panels and a front fascia with hideaway headlights and topped off with a billet grille. Of course, no LS9 engine swap would be complete without a window in the hood to take it all in, just like on the ZR1. Putting those 705 rampaging ponies on the pavement are HRE wheels wrapped in Michelin PS2 tires and an upgraded suspension. Holding it all back are optional 15-in carbon-ceramic brakes lifted from the Corvette ZR1, which in turn were lifted from Ferrari's FXX track car.

If you can pony up the $109,500 to buy one, Hennessey will also throw in a one-day performance driving course at the Lonestar Motorsports Park next door to their factory in Sealy, Texas. Assuming you do have that kind of cash, you'll want to get yourself registered as a bidder at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, ASAP. Registered bidders will get the first chance to order a Limited Edition HPE700 Camaro starting January 13, either in person at the show or by phone or email. The car will go on sale to the public starting January 19 and can be ordered through select Chevrolet dealers or direct from Hennessey Performance Engineering.

It'd be interesting to see track times of this car when it's out and how the numbers compare to some of the other big dogs in the same price range.

DailyDriver2k5 01-09-2009 09:17 AM

110k for a track bread ZR-1 or 109K for Satan's War Chariot?

Decisions, Decisions.... I'll take both please!:)

I have to say that Camaro was created from pure evil, it even looks evil! I likey! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!:FIREdevil

Yeah a satin finish RX-8 would look menacing!

Camaro fans take that as an offense, :lol2: really though, I don't see any resemblance. They are quite diferent.

CyberPitz 01-09-2009 02:21 PM

Eh, I was never a fond fan of the way it looked to begin with, but they definitely went in the right direction.

Insane engine, as well.

anything with half the horsepower and awd can beat the hennessey viper:lol:

chickenwafer 01-09-2009 07:40 PM

I'll still take an Ariel Atom and destroy it with 1/3 the horsepower. But it does look good.

YaXMaNGTO 01-09-2009 09:47 PM
