HArdtop Miata
I was just reading MazdaSport Magazine (sent me a free issue to lsnag me in. might just work) and they mention mazda is planing on creating a limited number of Fixed Hardtop Miata.
here is an IGN article and pictures.. http://cars.ign.com/articles/456/456...html?fromint=1 what you thing? i kinda like.. |
omg that would be so awesome.

Mazda has always wanted to cover the 2 seater coupe market since their 1st gerneration Miata, they've tried that 5-6 years back with the MK1, but I don't think there was a market for it then, as most people would just get the optional detachable hardtop and choose to drive open-top as they feel like.
I'm surprise with they re-launch of the hardtop coupe Miata, but then again, I think the market are probably more ready for it now. |
I want one :D . That better come to the US.

and has more in common with the last generation RX-7 than the current droptop roadster. i agree with this. make it a coupe and you might as well drop in the renesis and call it an rx-7. especially looking at it from this angle: http://carsmedia.ign.com/cars/image/...rontredInL.jpg |
it says it will be in limited production.. so if it was to come here i would assume orders only. The 2 highest models Type A and Type E will have 200 and 150 vehicles produced respectively.
BY the way (HIJACKING MY OWN THREAD).. the Mazda Sport Magazine has a great article on the RX-8. For the few of us who bought the car with little knowledge as to how it came about GREAT ARTICLE. it explains the inital concepts, how the "freestyle" doors were adopted, the difference between the 13B and the Renesis and much more. |

They had several of these at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, and I got to sit in a couple of them. They look really pretty in real life, better than the pictures I think. Also, the headroom was about the same as a non-sunroof FD.

I wonder how much more the coupe weighs.

I may regret saying this but.....I think if Mazda makes a coupe version of the next Miata with a rotary engine option, I don't think there will need to be a new RX-7.
