Jeep Wrangler.. :) Take out the back seat and you have a 2-seater with plenty of room. Get a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited if you need room and the back seat installed. :)

therm8 05-21-2006 12:36 PM

hopefully, this will be my 2nd car (once it's available)

http://www.grabercars.com/

Probably with a Toyota 1zz supercharged and SMT or a 2zz and a 6spd.

Nothing like a 1700lb (with interior and driver) mid-engined car with 4.xx sec 0-60's, and mid to high 30's mpg (guestimate).

My second car is a 88 mazda RX-7 NA, two seater with a lot of space on the back.

1995 Ford Probe GT as seen in this thread... https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/just-some-pics-my-girls-90409/

It's a very fun car and gets 30mpg highway. :)

macnrx8 05-21-2006 01:50 PM

1993 Mazda Mx-6 LS. Faster and almost as much fun as the 8.

automaton 05-21-2006 02:24 PM

My second car is a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 with upgrades. Fastest car I've ever owned, and the best car in the snow I've ever owned (It's my winter car, but I drive it to work, until i move into my new house). I knock down 30 MPG if I stay off the boost, or I get significantly less if I beat on it, but have more fun.

My third car (my wife's car, now) is a 1996 BMW 318ti. 35 MPG, and if you get the clubsport model, it handles really nice. Great all-around car (and it's a hatch, so it has lots of flexible room).

What do you have done to the MX-6 to make it faster?

rxeightr 05-21-2006 02:53 PM

My 2nd car is the '64 Stingray rag top.

loco4rx8 05-21-2006 02:53 PM

Second car? Must be nice. I don't need a second car anyway, but I guess if I won the lottery maybe I'd get one.

99 cavalier, i'll keep it until the engine dies

HolyCross05 05-21-2006 03:52 PM

96 Maxima, pushing 175k miles but still runs smooth.

DOMINION 05-21-2006 04:21 PM

96 Toyota pick up truck with 60K. One owner. Picked it up from my friend for $1,400. Thing looks brand new. Looking into a 240 real soon.

CAI, 2.5" catback exhaust, obx headers, high flow cat, AIT resistor, and the main thing is I bumped up the timing 5 degrees and have to run 93 octane. Using the same Gtech... .3 faster to 60 and 13.9 in the quarter (.9 faster than the 8). I don't necessarily trust the Gtech numbers but they are good for a comparison. Faster in a straight line but definitly doesn't handle as well.

The 8 isn't my daily driver, I have a 2001, B-3000 for that. The wife drives her 2003, Miata or our 2006, Jeep Wrangler. The Miata gets great gas mileage of all my vehicles.

DeLOCO 05-21-2006 08:15 PM

I love my daily driver, it's a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Dbl Cab Prerunner...Carries the kids and the dog, hauls the toy trailer (dirt bikes and quads) and gets 21-22 mpg. Hard tonneau cover (locks) is great for grocery haulin', etc.

My other speed fix (I love sportbike riding) doubles as a gas/time saver, a 2001 Honda CBR 929.

My wife's vehicle is a 2003 Toyota Sequoia Limited (the "family car"). It's a great, plush, as well as comfortable ride, gets 17-18 mpg on the freeway. It carries a month's worth of groceries in one trip.

MedicineMan 05-21-2006 09:21 PM

My wife has an '05 Honda Pilot EX-L w/RES and we also have a '99 Honda Civic EX Coupe 5M. The Civic gets the same gas mileage as my Pilot and RX8 put together!

zaglo6204 05-21-2006 09:59 PM

E36 M3 coupe. yay.

CosmosMpower 05-21-2006 10:01 PM

Miata is my next daily driver, I had a 92 SE-R before also and it was a great little beater.

If i get a raise soon I'll probably make the 8 a daily and pick up an Elise.

maxxdamigz 05-22-2006 07:31 AM

The 8 is my second car. I drive a '96 Ford Probe GT ATX for commuting to work. It's taken a beating but has required very few repairs for a 120k car. Maintenance costs have been fairly high due to the beating, but that's true with all the cars I have had.

Actually, I find the transition from a Probe GT/MX-6 LS to a RX-8 fairly direct. 7k redline, all top end/no low end, handles better than it does a quarter mile, really fun drives, and both have the cupholders right where your elbow is when shifting. The probe has infinitely more trunk space.

rx8wannahave 05-22-2006 07:59 AM

2nd car? My 8 is my daily driver...and we have a Mazda6 for my wife. One day...my 8 might be my 2nd car and the new Camaro or Evo X would be the daily.

It all depends on what Mazda does with the future of the RX8. But...I don't got the money for 2 cars nor the space (2 car garage).

GotBass 05-30-2006 08:15 PM

1 car and 2 sets of tires. All I need in Chicago.
