Got to see a Jet Bike @ work- Pics included
Wow, talk about ultimate play toy! FYI if you don't know me, I work at an airport so it was nothing out of the ordinary to hear a jet engine, except when it comes from a motorcycle! :Eyecrazy: I was able to take some pics and got a chance to talk to the guy and he gave me some info:
Frame/chassis: Custom Engine: Turbine jet engine out of a Marchetti 260 Turboprop (Seen here in piston prop form) Transmission: 2 speed tranny out of a Toyota Camry. (I'm gueesing 2nd & 5th gears?) Top Speed: Quote: "The guy who made it promises over 250 mph." I don't really doubt him either cause I've seen Jay Leno's jet bike do the same kind of numbers :Freak_ani Discuss and enjoy! ^.^ I freaking LOVE the paint scheme... can u tell I like airplanes? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...s/P2103462.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...s/P2103463.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...s/P2103464.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...s/P2103465.jpg |

This the Y2K jet bike built by MTT (Marine Turbine Technologies). The bike is powered by a reconditioned Rolls Royce Allison gas turbine out of a helicopter. This one is cool because it is "naked" and has a bad ass airbrush job. These bikes go for $150,000 and up. Jay Leno was one of the only Americans I have ever heard to own one of these. Pretty cool!

Yeah who woulda thought some coon-asses would be nuts enough to put a turbine engine on a bike. Gotta love La.
