GM Failed to sell SAAB, Brand discontiune
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/GM-to-...908c88&ccode=1
I mean, DUH Who the "#@$)*!@" wants "SAAB" anyway. For some reason, I always connect the word "garbage" to "SAAB". I would rather get a KIA than a SAAB. oh well, bye bye SAAB :) |
But they're designed by fighter pilots .... ;)
|
Writing was on the wall once Koenig looked unlikely. An unglorious end to a quirky, distinctive and cult-loved automobile company. Hopefully, Volvo doesn't end up DOA.
|
oh well no more saab haha. Not sure to many people will be disappointed
|
That is unfortunate. Saab's are great.
|
not sure why ppl hate there cars. but i always thought their designs are pretty clean. they have that Subbie look to them.
|
I never had a high opinion of Saab's until recently. A colleague of mine picked one up last year, we went for a ride in it and it's actually a GREAT car. Good looking on the outside, comfortable to ride in and has some get up and go thanks to that little turbo.
Problem is they could never really compete and properly market themselves to their target audience. When I thought 'mid-level luxury sedan', the word "Saab" never once came to mind. |
Jedi that is one of the great things about Saab. Well for the Saab enthusiast that is :)
I have owned two Saabs, 9-5 Aero (basically their high end model) and 900 Turbo Convert. Both were fairly quick and very comfortable and extremely safe. |
Had a ng900 loved it but sucks to see them go GM fcked them then raped them with a broom
|
GM brought them nothing but mismanagement and demise. Due to Ford and GM, Sweden will be going from 2 home-grown automakers to zilch. There go two of the more global brands representing Sweden. At least they still have IKEA.
|
Everyone I know who bought a saab had it fall apart.
They look nice, but little pieces ALL OVER IT break and fall off. Even as recent as a 2007 model a guy I knew had. He had to take it to the dealership to fix stuff almost monthly. Windows would stop working, buttons fall off, rattly panels, etc. They were just poorly made and that was a huge flaw for them. As said earlier... quirky... |
Sad to see them go...I had an 89 SPG that was my most favorite of all the cars I've owned. I loved the feel of the turbo when it kicked in...had the big rear door, and could take out the rear deck panel to increase the trunk size (important for a family man with kids playing hockey all the time. Kept it for 8 years and passed it down to my son (it was the car he learned to drive on) He babied it for another year before it was stolen and wrecked. I've often thought about getting another one, but they're really hard to find now.

Gm = failure! Its all about the Imports!
|
I think GM was the caused of failure.
Even GM itself its a failure. Will GM learn? in my opinion, nope, they did not. look at that fuxking Volt *flame suit on* oh well. |
IDGAF..... My sis in law has a newer sab 4 door turbo... 2.5 i believe and pretty much to me seems like a cheaper BMW... but the inside is nice! OH WELL...
|
I wonder what their federal government will do to stop SAAB closing down???...
Many workers left without a job.. |
This is sad to see.
|
Well SPG's are very hard to find now a days its like looking unmolested WRX STI.
|
saabs are great, i was very very upset when i heard this, even tho it seemed inevitable. well, old saabs are great; the newer saabs show heavy signs of gm's neglect. i love saabs, and all the great saabs were in the past anyway. it is sad that the new 9-5 will probably never see production, or if it does it'll be wearing some gm brand badge and i'll want nothing to do with it =(

Many workers left without a job.. It's a shame for the workers and the region (I live where SAAB is) but SAAB wasen't suppose to live. Our government is going to educate and relearn the SAAB workers (alot of good workers, engineers etc) so they can start work in other companys instead. I personally have never liked SAAB, I has always been a more of a Volvo guy. But I feel for the familys that have lost their jobs, must be a shitty christmas for them. :-( in the end if you don't produce a product people wants to buy then you have no Business. |

Saab is now in the memory books with Saturn, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Geo, Hummer, Asuna, Bedford, Lotus.... GM surely doesn't stand for General Management.
Opel, GMC, Vauxhaul and Holden will be next i'm pretty sure and they will remain with Chevy/Cadillac/Buick/Daewoo |

Well, Ill agree with you. It seems to me that GM thinks the Volt will be their savior but at near 40k 97% of the US population cant afford one anyway. I know they plan on exporting a huge number of these and Id be willing to bet they will sell more of these overseas than they will here. I dont think this is the kind of car america wants. I wish these companies would stop being so stubborn and bring over diesel engines to the US market. They would surely sell better than the hybrid/electric crap.
