Fuel Cell Bus Club gets Bigger
way back in 2005 i started posting about the Fuel Cell Bus Club https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...light=bus+club
Basically a bunch of cities around the world that have added fuel cell buses to their transportation fleets as well as hydrogen reformer/filling stations for thsoe buses and oterh hydrogen vehicles. the Mayor of London England has just announced an expansion of their buses. They will be buying 10 more Hydrogen fueled buses. 5 will be fuel cell buses and 5 will be Hydrogen burnign ICEs. :D: i love hydrogen news more http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/?p=467 new members of the fuel cell bus club in the US Texas - hehehe RG http://www.physorg.com/news113591671.html and Michigan http://blog.mlive.com/flintjournal/n...ture_comi.html |
Too bad they aren't fast enough to be able to be used as passenger cars. They are very heavy too. They don't need to accelerate quickly either. It may be fine in some bus lines that don't travel very far or fast but it's crap in a street car. New York is one place using the Supercharged V10 210hp hydrogen engines in a bus. It's a crap engine though but the intended use doesn't require performance or low weight. It's a good thing too.

This is all new tech. But, as I understand it, Zoom is talking about Fuel Cells. RG is talking about a internal combustion engine. A fuel cell generates electricity to drive a traction motor. RG's complaint is about replacing gasoline for hydrogen.
Aren't we talking about 2 different things here? |
He has linked to both. Fuel cells are fine.

ICEs are a stepping stone
