That 2.5 liter is a Volvo lump, no?

EuroFord also sells a Fiesta diesel that gets 76 mpg.......

You know, that is the ONLY Focus I would ever enjoy driving, I think. It looks pretty good, has an OK interior and it's got, what, 300 hp?

How can Ford not understand that this is exactly what they need to do here in the states to save their ass...?

JRichter 01-30-2009 04:58 PM

New Focus RS looks really good. It's still just FWD but supposedly they've reworked the steering/suspension to handle the 300hp with no drama based on what I read in CAR or something. It won't come here because it's cheaper to just make a few more half-ass Mustang variations to satisfy American Ford enthusiasts and a car equipped like the Focus RS would cost like $40k or so. What American would pay that for a "hatchback"? :squint:

Yeah. I think it's the Volvo 5 cylinder turbo. If so, the engine has received very favorable reviews from critics.

Isn't there speculation that next Mazdaspeed 3 may be getting this mill?

Great exterior, but the interior is uber crap!

If the RS sold here then Ford would have a lot of first time buyers coming from the Euro and Asian import market :)

I saw them and the Modeos in China when I was there. They are both excellent looking cars.
