First Ferarri experience

I had my first ride in a Ferarri this past sunday. I was at my buddies college graduation party, and his dad brought out his new Ferarri F430, yea his family is pretty well off. I didnt get to drive it, but his dad took me out for a ride down the hwy in it. Absolutely unbelievable! We went from 0 to 120 in what felt like 5 seconds. I know its more along the line of 10 or 11, but it was ridiculous. The classic sound ouf a Ferarri engine screeming right behind your head, to being thrown back in your seat so hard, for the entire ride, that you can barely move. I dont think the smile left my face for hours. I have to own one before I die.

Raptor2k 05-11-2006 09:46 AM

wow -- so the kid just gets an F430 handed too him for (college) graduation im assuming? Besides the insane jealousy... thats just kinda, weird to me. When i got out of college I went straight to work 2 days later and scrimped and saved and worked my ass off to just buy my RX8... kinda pisses me off that people who don't work and save just get things handed to them, but that's life

You can be sure the kid will not treat it like he would if he paid for it himself. Even if i turn out to ever have millions of dollars I don't know if I would just buy my kid something that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars as a present for getting out of college, makes the kid spoiled in my mind.

BunnyGirl 05-11-2006 11:38 AM

I think it was the dad's new Ferrari, but I agree with you. People should work for and earn what they have, not have it handed to them. Spoiled isn't the word that comes to my mind.

Last Ferrari

Last Ferrari I ever drove was a 1989 Testarossa. Truly amazing how a car that big suddenly feels smaller when the speed goes up.

Drove through some mountain roads in Alaska, switchbacks, elevation changes, very little straight roads. Great feel. Always able to tell exactly what the tires were doing, which is VERY important next to a 1200ft dropoff. Faster than snot!

Drove just like a great big Fiat X1/9, with a bunch more power.

I like my RX8 for some of the same reasons. Also able to tell when the tires are gonna let loose, nice power. But, just does not have the cachet that the Ferrari has. (also does not have the snob factor, and I don't have to worry about parking it at Sears! :wiggle:

Read his post again lol, he said it was his friend's Dad's car, and his Dad was driving it

Hell, I want to try one of those before I die too !

I drove my friend's 99' 355 Berlinetta a couple of weeks ago. The sound is just amazing. I didnt notice crazy low end power but once you wind it up it pulls hard! Loved taking it to 8000 RPMs, it was just a raw and amazing experience. The pedals are super close together too! - Sigh

You lucky bastards. :D:

Someone given a 430 might not treat it like he would have, if he paid for it himself.

But, you don't treat the things you've been given like you should either...so let's not throw stones.

*edit: but, of course, it sounds like he wasn't quite even a 430 to begin with...so there really-really isn't any reason to throw stones.

Hightshoe 05-12-2006 09:54 AM

Yes it was his Dads car, and his Dad was driving. It had the F1 paddle shifting tranny.

lesper4 05-12-2006 10:36 AM

dmorales 05-12-2006 12:23 PM

That's one thing I hope to do, get to ride in a ferrari. (Since I know I will never own one.)

I can live without riding in a Lamborghini, but not a Ferrari!

Lambo versus Ferrari

Been in both. Older models.

Testarossa versus Countach = no contest

Countach will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, and your heart race, and your adrenalin pump in ways the Ferrari can only dream of. The sound of the Lambo is, seriously now, like King Kong ripping silk. The Ferrari sound was too dignified. The Lambo felt brutal, and ready to go, like Zubas and a sleeveless t-shirt at muscle beach. The Ferrari felt powerful, but in a business suit kinda way.

To this day, even with all the troubles, bad reliability, high maintenance, and every other bad thing said about it, I still wish I had a Countach. (wait, I also just described an RX8 :wink2: )

You act like having money is a crime.. just because someone was given something, doesn't mean they will treat it like crap... oh, and I'm sure if your family was loaded and they bought you a nice car, you would probably tell them to take it back because you have to work for everything you get, riiiight??

Paul_in_DC 05-12-2006 09:22 PM

The Ferrari is not a car. It's an orgasm with a steering wheel. :icon_droo

What does that have to do with anything.
