First drive in Ferarri F355 = Wow!

As some of you already know, I sell Cadillacs at a dealer in Florida.

Well, I sold a 2005 Escalade today, and the trade ?

An absolutely MINT 1995 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta with 14K original miles.

It is impossible to explain the experience of turning the key yourself, hearing the engine roar to life and then driving this amazing piece of machinery. Stunning.

For the curious, HERE is a link to some pictures of the car.

Please don't take it as advertising, I just figured that the fellow car enthusiasts here on the boards could share in my enthusiasm. Today is a day I will remember: First drive in a Ferrari!! :D

Nice, I love those cars!!

Someone needs to clean her though, the engine looks dirty. I have a couple toothbrushes and I work for free. Just leave me the keys ;)

Strewth....eight and a half grand for a service

Not sure I'd want that as common knowledge for a prospective buyer to see!!

Why would anybody trade a Ferrari like this for a cadillac is beyond me...

TODreamer 01-19-2005 08:44 PM

well a Ferrari isnt the most practical car to have.... even for a sports car... they are fantastic machines but you cant even drive the damn thing.. .. they just sit there most of the time

Personally, I've never seen a Ferrari with more than 30K kms on it (no matter how old it is) , I just see that as one big cock tease... I need something that i can drive whenever i want without feeling guilty

Tony Orlando 01-19-2005 08:59 PM

Yep. Those pics were taken while he was still signing paperwork inside. It's been cleaned since.

And anyone who has owned these cars in the past knows that 8K is about what a dealer charges for a 15k service. I figured that prospective owners would like to know that the car was dealer serviced, not taken to Vinnie the "Italian car specialist" down town (as some Ferrari owners do) :) And here, we complain about mazda dealers..... ouch.

He traded it because he has a new one on order, and bought the ESV Platinum for his wife.

That's almost the same car I drove last year while in France. Lot's of fun and the engine sound from behind your head is heavenly, but by todays standards they really aren't all that fast. It's amazing how much faster cars have gotten in the last 10 years. The guy that let me drive it used it on track days and purely for leisure. His daily driver was a Focus RS, and his son drove a WRX which is sort of what led him to letting me drive his Ferrari. He realized what a car freak I was, he even had a ton of praise for the WRX and said that his son races his WRX and turns better laptimes than he does. Was pretty cool to hear from a Ferrari owner, even though I'd still rather have the Ferrari it made me proud of my little Subaru.

Yeah, 4.6 0-60 isn't blazing fast (My CTS-V does that bone stock :) ) , but as you said, the roar of that engine behind your head, combined with the pure sex appeal of that body work is a drug few of us here can resist in person.

Speaking of Caddys I absolutely love the STS.

Getting old in age, Ferrari to Cadillac...it makes perfect sense.

Isn't that worth at least 10 grand more than a new fully loaded Escalade. Or do the extremely rich/dumb not really care as long as they have an easy transaction.

BlueEyes 01-21-2005 05:38 PM

I would think it is worth more too, that's not to say that he didn't get cash on trade too.

Tony Orlando 01-22-2005 05:13 PM

Correct. He got a 72K ESV Platinum, AND money back.

And he's not that old. :)

Awesome car!! Lucky SOB :) The only thing I don't like is the shifter. Looks too large and somewhat hard to hit the gears when shifting quickly. That's just what it looks like to me. You drove it though, how is it??
