Extensive Preventative maintenance
Hey all, I did not want to have to start a thread but couldn't seem to gather enough information from any of the existing threads. Recently my 8 went down, I believe it's my LIM so we're pulling the motor and taking it off, I figure while I'm there it certainly can't hurt doing preventative maintenance down there.
Car is a 2006 Mazda RX8 manual at 134k (Rebuild has 20k miles on it, been almost 3 years)(Decatted) For reference, I got it rebuilt almost 3 years ago, and it looks like most of the stuff hasn't been replaced since 2006(Has gunk on it, connections may be breaking). I see rx8club's recommended maintenance stuff but while I have the motor out of the car, I figure may as well make things easier, does anyone have anything I should check/replace while I'm there? Or perhaps good mods to do with it free from the car? I'm wanting to do a battery relocation which I will be searching for further on the threads but anyone feel free to share you experience and any diagrams you used. Also may do the power steering if I can find a junked 8, so if you guys have any recommendations for testing it at a junkyard so I'm buying a good rack, please feel free to add it. - It got a new clutch a while ago - I just bought brand new coolant hoses on an eBay kit to install. - Newish coil packs - New sparkplug wires - New trailing plugs - BHR Clutch Pedal - Deflood done before pulling motor - Getting fresh fluids all around as soon as I put it back in. Is there anything you guys recommend any further? |
