People should probably be warned that the file is 85 MB :)

My next car purchase if i dont find a FD is going to be that Evo.

Ike 12-17-2004 04:46 PM

I think I'm going to cry... Damn shame it was damn when they did it and that he made a mistake or the Zonda, Koenigsegg and a few others cars were going down.

Shiri 12-17-2004 06:55 PM

Actually there is nothing special about that EVO except that it is modified abit and has a warranty. All the bad points that Jeremy pointed out are normal "shortcomings" on highly modified cars such as excessive turbo lag, unfriendly clutch.

Straight8 12-17-2004 07:19 PM

Feck me...400 hp, 0-60 in 3.5 secs, one finger power slides!!! lol Helluva car, too bad it doesn't have a different shell.

mysql101 12-17-2004 07:24 PM

You can buy a C6 for less than that car. I don't think the C6 has 3.5 sec 0-60, but it's easier to drive, longer warranty, and looks a lot better.

So does this mean that the 8 and the evo are pretty much the same. Better track cars than straight line performance? It says it has poor turbo lag. Which for 40k sucks. I think if the 8 had a turbo that fit it well it would be just as good. I didn't realize the evo had those down sides to it.

That wasn't the normal version - in the end of the clip they pointed out the normal versions were nicer, even though they were slower.

Also I think the price was 40,000 or 50,000 pounds. That's a lot more than $40,000 USD. It costs more than the new C6 corvette that also has 400 hp.

They only sell the 271 hp one in the states, unless theyre bringing the other models over?

Rxdriftingaction 12-17-2004 10:02 PM

hmm... 80k for a evo?! I need some time to think about it .!! viper seems cooler than that evo.!! I like muscle car !! hahaha
thanks for suring

Big turbos on small displacement engines means turbolag, it's one of the drawbacks or all cars with that setup but staying in the powerband alleviates most of that. As for straightline performance the car does 0-60 in 3.5 secs and probably runs the 1/4 mile somewhere in the 11s maybe low 12s, so I'd say the similarities between that Evo and the RX-8 are minimal at best. Lastly just throwing a turbo in an RX-8 isn't going to allow you to keep up with the Evo, try to do the things that the Evo can do in an RX-8 and you'll end up in a barrier or the grass. The Evo is a very special car, not just some tarted up Lancer.

The Evo is the only car that resembles a ricer that I actually would drive. I like the exterior but the int. turns me away. The evo is a very quick car and has my respect but I just can't see buying one. The wrx is another one that I would probably buy. I saw a blue one today and really liked it. I like the looks of the 8 better because of the whole car itself. I would like for Mazda to turbo the 8 or just give it more hp. All in all you and Jason are right. I would take an 8 over the evo. Just my liking of cars.

That Evo isn't available in the states. That's the rare 400 hp one they had, that's only for sale in the UK I think. Not many being made either if I recall correctly.

cool, thanks for sharing, always love watching stuff like this regardless of which car they're talking about.
