Driving is believing!

I test drove a Mazda 6 and Acura TSX today. I thought the Acura was the BOMB! It was very nice, inside and out, well built etc etc. Then I went a checked out the Mazda 6, the interior wasn't as spiffy (although they didn't have a leather with GFX package to compare).

I was going to leave as it was taking forever to get help, I'm glad I waited because even though I started to be turned off by the interior compared to the TSX, the driving was UNBELIEVABLE!

The TSX has a whimpy 200hp 4cyl, the 6 although only 220Hp it's a 6 cyl and is so smooth and powerfull! It was much more fun to drive and I like it better because of that.

Can't wait to try the 8!!!

I don't like the TSX only because they are making it something that it's not... it's just a bloody Accord with an Acura badge :\

ehk. Test drove it 2 and I am not that impressed... its just an rsx type s with 4 doors, might as well get a rsx-s.
I am impressed with the acura tl-s though. For the mazda 6 well its not bad, I can't wait for the 8.

Acura needed a real entry level sedan. When the Integra was replaced with the RSX, there was a gap in their product line; they tapped the Euro Accord. I haven't driven it, but it seems like a bit too much $$ for what you get.

The pics of the interior make it look very nice, and I'm sure it will be on par with other Acura offerings. It also comes loaded with features - the only option is the NAV system. BUT...the Mazda 6s with a 5 speed (which I have driven) can be had for several thousand cheaper. Also, the new Accord can be had with a 240 hp v6, easily outgunning the Acura.

They only want to sell 15,000 of them, so they shouldn't have too big a prblem with that.

I hear ya. Most of Acura's line are just rebadged Hondas, or crappy American redesigns, all with inflated price tags.

yea and lexus's r just rebadged toyotas, and infinities r just rebadged nissian's::rolls eyes:: whats ur point

The key argument is whether the rebadge is worth the extra cost. I think most lexus products are worth it. Some of infiniti's are worth the cost. For Acura....I would prob only consider tl (because competition has better "buys")

Everything's relative. I drove an upgraded 6 at the Rev It Up event and was totally unimpressed with it. Slow acceleration, lots of understeer and heavy body roll. But like I said everything's relative and my daily driver is a souped up BMW 540i so it's an unfair comparison. :p

...that's what makes it the perfect car to take to track for joe-regulars to try and push to the limits: it's not an easy car to drive quick... or, to rephrase, its limits are substantially lower than a quick car, and might be even more difficult to extract...

chenpin 04-16-2003 06:46 PM

Track car? I'd say miata. nice cheap fun :D

wakeech 04-16-2003 07:02 PM

....i meant (beyond the product promotion factor) those are some of the reasons Mazda chose it as a Rev It Up vehicle, and not something easier/faster (and already well known) car to drive like the Miata...

Lexus got rated #1 company for reliability. So they are worth it.
