Daily Driver Part II The project continues

Well finally had some time over this holiday weekend to work more on my project daily driver. Last time you saw her she look like this.

Now she looks like this....

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...t/PIC-0049.jpg

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...t/PIC-0047.jpg

Dropped her 2 inches with KYB shocks, Tein springs, she sits 2 inches lower up front and about .75 in the rear from the stock setting, I just ordered 1.00" lowering springs for the rear to even out the look. Had to roll the fenders so those 17" rim/tires could turn without damaging the tires. Also which is not shown, the mud flaps up front had to go , they were catching every little bump and dip.

As far as the ride, she rides smooth, occasional scrub here and there over dips but the ride is solid. I avoid pot holes like the plauge.

My theme for this car is for it to be simple and clean, lowered, but still functional were i can take passengers if need be. Loving the gas mileage in this car! Still have to fix some minor issues, but will take care of them over the holiday break.

Soon the RX-8 will be lowered 1" all around to get rid of that nasty fender gap. Then thats it for her. She is staying simple and elegant.

Will post more photos as the project continues with the Acura.

Thanks! Those old rims looked very 90ish...lol! Wanted to get somthing that was tasteful and modern.

+1 on having a honda DD.

mine is a 1993 cb7 accord with an h22 swap and a b16 transmission.

looks completely stock, but it rips. it weighs nothing, gets 30+mpg, and the only way you can tell that it's not stock is the sidepipe combined with the 500rpm idle from the cams. oh, and it's a 4-door.

my last car was a fully built, daily driven 1999 prelude. 230 n/a hp. it was unreal.

Nice work man, much improved. I always love the mesh/BBS-style wheel designs.

Renesis07 11-12-2008 11:16 AM

sweet DD!!! Mines an 03 Grand Prix, not too exciting :)

Looking Better

Big Money Pit, your rides seem very cool as DD, I wish all cars could be fun and get 30+mpg! LOL

Guys thanks for the compliment!

Looking pretty good!

Is it me, or does the front part look like it's having fitment issues? It could just be the light.

Its the light, the front bumper/nose piece is weird, the hood actually suppose to sit flush with the stock bumper, the aftermarket bumper alows for the hood to actually sit on top of it, causing that nasty line or lip effect in certain light.

Renesis07 11-13-2008 08:23 AM

Either way, I would still drive it

My daily driver use to be silver with silver wheels.:) I do miss driving my 8 on the daily, but in these economical hard times, you do what you have to do to save that cash. I still get to drive her on the weekends , so I am not totally bumed out!LOL!

Renesis07 11-13-2008 01:35 PM

I did the same, garaged mine to share a car with the girlfriend. Saves A LOT on gas and insurance not driving the 8. Plus its keeping the miles off of it which is a bonus. It just makes those random outtings with the 8 more enjoyable and appreciated :)

Big Money Pit 11-13-2008 01:39 PM

i'm in the same boat. i just drive the 8 on the weekends, that way i know i'll be covered by the 8 year /100k warranty for the majority of the time i'm paying for the car. it has 75k on it right now with a 14k motor in it. it only sees about 75 miles a week, and that number might dwindle down to bi-weekly during the winter.

dozer 11-13-2008 01:39 PM

lookin reall good...i want one now too

JRichter 11-13-2008 01:59 PM

I keep thinking about a dd/winter car but all I can decide on is an FC RX-7 like the one I used to have which doesn't really make sense for a dd/winter car and is not much different than the 8, lol. Last 2 winters tore up my 8 pretty good and the miles are racking up so I need to do something.

Renesis07 11-13-2008 02:07 PM

Yea, the winter 2 years ago was not kind to my 8. Thats why I started garaging it last year and this year. Thats where I got all my rock chips from and my stupid ass never put mudflaps behind the front wheels so it looks like hell under there from the winter sand and salt and crap.

Wow, the more I talk about it the more I feel that 75 bucks a month for a garage was a solid investment :)

Yeah man, you should get a dd too, keep the 8 in prestine condition.

CyberPitz 11-13-2008 03:26 PM

Whenever I get my RX-7 up and running in a good condition, I'll probably drive that about the same amount as the 8. One for just random turbo fun while I have the refined beauty.

I'd love to be baller enough to have 2 cars, but I can't right now. I'm looking for a cheap old school Mazda b-series pickup, I've found a few so far, but they all had mega expensive issues, as soon as I find something I'll be resting the 8 as well. I believe in "driven not hidden", but I also get tired of the daily wear and tear on something I've spent a lot of time customizing etc. Something like this (only doesn't have to be as nice) would be perfect, I miss my mini -- :tear:
