crossfire faster than sti
You guys have to check this out....these crossfire owners have wonderfull imaginations....crossfireforums
|
100% garbage. They must be smoking crack over there. First off--the guy seems like he is lying--what was the mention of the 350Z--thought he was racing an STI.
|
im lost on the story, how the heck did the 350z get in the picture?
|
I've got a suburban that can go faster than a crossfire.
|
That thread is another reason why street racing stories are not allowed on this site. I'm glad he beat a Subaru 350Z STi with his Crossfire :)
|
i believe he raced a 350z before and everyone on the forum knows this.
so i think he compared them but anyway.the story is shady im sure the sti would of walked him in everygear. shit i would kill the crossfire for that matter. |
Defintly not an 04 ... but maybe an 05
Okay, the blown V-6 had 349 bhp and 332 lb.-ft. in DaimlerChrysler's other rear-drive sports car, the SLK32 AMG. And the supercharged engine has about 100 lb. more to deal with in the 3240-lb. SRT-6 coupe, but Chrysler is still talkin' a Crossfire that does 0-60 mph in about 5 seconds and has a software-capped top speed of 158 mph. |
If it is the 330 hp, 310 lb.-ft. of torque SRT-6 that is believable, if it is a "regular" Crossfire...this is a joke.
|
Wow.....................
I have seen some stupid people, but............Wow Xfire wining against an STI, ha that one will keep me laughing all day!!! |
I tend to think an rx8 is capable of beating the regular crossfire. Naturally the srt-6 would give the STI a true test, but then again look at the price of it. There is no way a 215hp car can compete with an STI. I can tell you, that if I come across one of those who wants to race, I won't give him time of day in my STI, but I may run with him in the rx8. There is no point to his thread even if the race did happen, because he seems blind to fact that the STI when driven the right way will toy with his crossfire. He's talking about being disappointed in the car, when the driver of STI likely didn't try, or he just messed up and didn't bother tyring to catch up. This sounds like a typical BS racing thread, and since this site has enough bullshit already, it's a damn good thing it's not allowed on here. We'd be getting stories form fanbois about how their rx8 smoked an EVO.

the SRT-6 isn't even out yet, is it?

So, he raced a 350Z first, then raced the STi. He compared them. Either way the Crossfire loses. I don't think any-one of those race stories on that site are factual. Probably just "stories" and thats it, i have driven a Crossfire and it is slow, reminds me of an even more exaggerated G35 Coupe. |

it's funny how even the other Xfire owners burn him and call him on his Bull$hit.
|
It's the Internet. Someone's bound to believe him.
|
The Crossfire SRT-6 costs around $47000 - which isaround the price of the M3 and the new 05 Corvette and both of those cars out perform it. Youd have to be crazy to spend that much on a Crossfire whenyou can have one ofthe other 2 more prestigious cars for the same price. Even the base Crossfire is overpriced. I thinkthey should do away w/base Crossfires and bring the SRT-6 down to the price of the base. Then you might have a good deal.

Ya the SRT-6 is definitely out, I saw one about two weeks ago. The thing rolled by me while I was waiting at a light, and it sounded like a monster. The wing on it is just so damb ugly though.
|
The base crossfire should be priced around 22k, and the higher end version around 35k.
It is way over priced, and I don't see the model sticking around for long without a major change in the price or in the chassis. |
There is one sentence that tells me that his story is BS: he said the STi spun his tires FROM A ROLL. I can't spin the tires with a 5500 RPM clutch drop, let alone from a roll. And I have a stage 2 STi with about 350hp and 385 ft/lbs torque. No way the STi spins its tires from a roll.

those ppl are fing stupid that one guy asked if a sti was a 350z?
|
they are making up stories to get over the fact their car looks like when a dog is bending down to take a crap
|
did you guys read the story? he clearly says that he thinks the guy missed his gears. none of them seem to the the crossfire is faster than the sti. he just happened to race a guy that couldn't drive.
|
I've tested the crossfire. It drives smoother than the RX8 before the M flash. But after the M flash, the RX8 is also smooth. I don't like the visibility and blind corners of the Crossfire. It's dash is also boring compared to the RX8 (at least for my taste). Some like its retro look.
|
Welp, I read the whole thing and all along he basically says that the driver messed up. He even says at the end "a win is a win", then when pointed out that he beat the driver, not the car, he agree's again.
He also says he isnt sure if it was him or the STi that spun their tires. So where's this Crossfire hostility coming from? |
As according to Car and Driver:
Dodge Crossfire SRT-6 "The Japanese-made IHI supercharger does whack time off the Crossfire's track numbers in big chunks. A 60-mph run now swiffs by in 5.1 seconds, a 1.4-second improvement over a six-speed manual Crossfire we tested in 2003. That car ran the quarter in 14.8 seconds at 96 mph. The SRT-6 posts a 13.5-second quarter, steaming through the trap at 107 mph. Whether it's the next green light down the avenue or the gap between two rigs guarding the freeway merge lane, "up there" is "right here" much sooner in an SRT-6." and.... Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type RA Spec C "Despite the obsessive reductions, our tester weighed just 116 fewer pounds than the lightest WRX we've measured. Still, with the extra power and more closely spaced gearing, the STi Type RA Spec C rips to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. That's almost a second faster than most WRXs we've tested (we made a 5.4-second run in a standard WRX, but others have been in the 5.8-to-5.9-second range). The Type RA Spec C is as quick as a Mustang Mach 1 and quicker, by a few 10ths, than the Nissan 350Z." Irregardless of what some kid wrote, get used to the fact that the new SRT-6 CAN and WILL run with the streetlight big dogs (new Vette aside, as it is THE Big Dog on the street sans supercars). |

Not sure where you're getting your info but stock STis have run 12.9s, and also 0-60 in the mid 4s. You're looking at a European spec car that is who knows how old from who knows what source. The Cobra runs 12s stock, the Evo can certainly turn out low 13s, and the Vette is in the same pricerange as the SRT-6 so I don't know how you can just cast that aside. No stock Chrysler SRT-6 is going to be the king of anything, it's a nice fast car, but hardly anything earthshattering. |
